I finally upgraded my KP to a K3 mark iii.
OK, so I also kept the KP, don’t judge me

Just messing around with the camera in my living room, on continuous shoot the buffer seems to go forever (in terms of catching wildlife in motion anyway).

Updating firmware tonight. You know what they say, “nobody is an athiest during a firmware update”

I'm not particularly acquisitive, but I've just spent a whole £5 on a Sunagor 400mm/5.6. Plus £3.95 postage of course. The thought of such extravagance is giving me a fit of the vapours.

In my defence, it's apparently got a sticky aperture so fixing it to make it useable will be a sort of penance for such spendthrift madness.

A department store near me had a buy one get one free on rechargable AA NiMH batteries. I splashed out on two packs of four. My K3 battery grip is now in use. Despite the pack saying that they were ready for use, I still had to charge them. For less than USD15, no complaints from me.

Incidentally, the K3 with Sigma 24-70/2.8 and battery pack weighs in at 1.88kg.

Lately I've been getting into using the Astrotracer on my KP, K-3 II, and K-5. After using the 300mm f/4 Super-Takumar with some success, I expanded my lens collection primarily for astrophotography with the Astrotracer, those being the 135mm f/2.5 SMC-K and the 100mm f/2.8 SMC-M.

And having just sold my K-7, I actually replaced it (just for fun) with a K-r, to mostly use with my manual-focus K, M, and M42 Taks (+ some third-party M42 lenses), and unlike the K-7, the K-r can be used with guess what... the Astrotracer!. And its smaller file sizes won't chew up my drives.

My TTartisans 35mm f0.95 finally arrived today from China for one of my Fuji X-T1s. I don't need it, having their f1.4 version as well as Fuji's own XF 35mm f2 and Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 M Color Skopar. It's rather nice and IMO much nicer than the 1.4 TTartisans. The ergonomics are better for me and it balances nicely on the X-T1 with the battery grip attached. It is not as polished as either the XF or Voigtlander but that is to be expected for the price. It is slightly soft wide open and lacks a little contrast but when stopped down to f2 all is good. Optically I would not class it as ideal at f0.95 but that max aperture is there if needed and focusing at this aperture is a breeze before stopping down.

I received one very special K1 earlier this week. Outwardly it appears no different than any other Pentax digital full-frame, but inside...

Hey, who stole the color?! I'm blaming Medex.

Auto-Takumar 135mm 1:3.5 It looks good, a few scratches on the front but I don't see those without my reading glasses on Aperture ring is very stiff though and aperture won't close down much beyond 6.3 or so. The ring itself will go to f22 with effort. Cocking and release do work but aperture remains limited. Luckily the container didn't feature the dreaded disintegrating foam.

I've been on the fence about trying out the 35/0.95 lens....

I have the Laowa 33/0.95, so I'll be watching for your photos with the TTArtisan lens....

This lens has three spring loaded bearings pushing out on the inside of the aperture ring, not just the usual one. I don't remember any details of disassembly except that. I sold mine to Baard-Einar many years ago.

Just got a 15-30 Pentax zoom. I’ve used it on my K1 II. I don’t know how I can ever go back to apsc again!

That's a great combo! Mine has been a workhorse for years.

There are two versions of this lens.

according to the Takumar Guide
QuoteQuote:
Two forms of assembly are used. The early lighter copies provide access to internal elements by unscrewing from the front and lack external locking screws. Later heavier lenses disassemble from the rear. Three external screws in the barrel behind the focussing ring hold the front elements in place.

I had a two-tone 135mm f3.5 pre-set Takumar for my Asahi Pentax S. At the time I thought it had excellent IQ. If the "super" version is the same, it should provide fine images even by modern expectations.
