Make sure you get a good feel of it before you commit to buying. I got rid of mine after a few months, as I found it horrible to actually use, though I loved the IQ and it was ideal for MF Nikon glass.
Thanks, I'll use that foreknowledge to keep my temptations in check. The silver finish also doesn't thrill me, bear in mind I have a Silver Pentax KP which has been nothing but a delight to use. In my experience even with chromed Leicas, the silver finish on cameras never ages well in my experience. Black is my preference in a workhorse camera.

Picked up a SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm F4-5.6 locally, it’s the best $60 (Canadian) I’ve spent in a while!
So far it’s razor sharp and focuses very fast - I’ll do some comparisons, but this might give up better images than my 55-300 PLM. It’s also not nearly as loud while focusing as I expected.
I was thinking it would tide me over until I could afford a newer one, but this might be a longer term deal than I thought!

A nice vintage telephoto lens

Dear Board,

I took a chance on a 300mm f4 Super Takumar on the big auction site. It came with a m42 to EOS focus confirmation chip and a 2x TC. I mounted it on an EOS 1Dlll and fired a few test shots. I must say I'm impressed with the lens. I look forward to using it on my ES-ll that is in the process of being restored.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

Let me guess: shallow DOF + creamy bokeh? Hope the lens delivers both for you.

Just for kicks, I got a used set of 49mm HOYA close-up filters from B&H to use on my 70mm or 40mm Ltds. For $20 I figured what the heck! I was glad to find they are the old style with the small case instead of the long envelope they come in now! Here they are along with a SOOC shot using the 40mm Ltd and +4 filter.

June 2014 I bought my wife a K-50 in "Storm Trooper" livery, which she loved, and is still working like a champ. Summer 2018 KEH landed a pile of K-50s from someone, and I bought a Blue/Brown copy with zero shutter-clicks as a backup for the missus. Aperture failed on that one at 1200 clicks, so I sent it off for repair at PC35 PhotoLab and it worked perfectly till about 4300 clicks, failing last spring.

I boxed it for a spell, then decided to take it over for my own use with manual aperture lenses. My latest acquisition is the FA 50 /1.7 from KEH:

It will join my F 17-28 & FA 135 as a three-lens grab-and-go:
