Oh, then it's a new filter...what kind!

Oh, and nice 600 BTW.

Honestly, at first I thought 'How did he get his hands on a 560 alread?'.

I added to my collection again this week. On the cheap end, I bought a 49mm CPL. On the other cheap end, I got a monster mirror lens with what I hope is a T mount. I have no idea what this thing is other than it's big and probably is going to take bad mirror lens type pictures!

Any ideas on what type of lens/paperweight I have?

(Pics taken with my cell phone)

For comparison, here it is with a 49mm CPL beside it.

Very interesting mirror lens. While I can't help with much of anything, I did notice that it is a 500mm @ f5.6 where most 500mm mirror lenses are f8.

Looks great, that plate looks like it should be long enough to balance with the grip on the camera body!

Yep - you were right - the 150mm is just long enough to balance perfectly with the grip on. I have a full bite on the lens plate with the clamp, and the lens foot all the way at the other end of the plate. All is secure!

No clue what the mount is. If it were a T-mount, there would be a lever or switch to dismount it easily (think: Adaptall). It's a huge mount, though, so my guess would be medium format Pentacon Six.

Good thing is adapters are available. Bad thing is they make the lens even bigger.

Oh yeah, what you have is a MC Rubinar 500/5.6 macro (the only Russian I know is from lenses ). Check out Flickr for some pics.
