Super wide! Yes!

The Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6. Wowzer, what a lens!

I'd enjoyed the Vivitar 19mm f4 on my film Pentaxes (Pentacies? What is the proper plural?) but with the DSLR kit lens at 18mm roughly a 28mm equivalent my superwide needs were not being filled.

Lightroom 4 has a correction routine for it which really helps with edge resolution, distortion, etc. Fun and games time! Now I can distort near faces to my heart's content!

The Topaz Labs plugin bundle for LR as it was running 40 per cent off over Christmas. Promises hours of tweaking fun if you are a RAW shooter. I haven't bought any gear since my K-01 about six months ago but that ole LBA isn't dead, just taking a siesta. Next up, though, is most likely more hard disk space, maybe an NAS.

Two things really - I go shades for my Q because I had the 37mm ND8 filter laying around from an old videocamera and I finally got (thank you Helen O) my 40.5-to-37mm step-DOWN ring for the Q

That also means that my old Sony 0.6x Wide Adapter in 37mm will work on the Q now too

Oh boy - I have several recent acquisitions: DA*55mm, DA*50-135, DA*16-50, and Sigma 100-300 f4.

Many things had to go to score these used lenses. All previous camera lenses, plus a guitar, multi-effects unit, headphones, a saxophone, the list goes on. But i'm pumped about my gear!!

On the camera side, a 2yr warranty extension for the K-01. For $20 it can't be beat!
On the trensportation side, our car was fading fast so we now have a new '12 Hyundai Santa Fe, replacing the original model of 2001. Belts will be tightened and LBA held at bay. Since it's needed to get me to photo ops, it still counts as photo gear right?

Here's my new K-5, DA 35mm f/2.4, DA 55-300mm, Sigma 50mm f/2,8 EX DG Macro, and a couple MF primes to play around with. Not a bad start...
Excellent start - I loved my DG 50mac but the DA40 stole its spotlight, now I use a Promaster 100mm with AF for the close work. I use primes for the most part from 15 to 100mm but for tele the 55-300 takes over.

Wow! Congrats on the great gear. You'll love the DA*'s, as for the Sigma, I haven't owned anything other than Pentax lenses in 2 years.

You know, it really has been neglected since I got my Q. I took it with me to Florida and used it a good bit but I also had days when I just took the entire Q kit (3 lenses, 5 batteries, OVF, and associated gear) and it weighed less than the K-5 with the 40 attached!

Problem is that I now have three cameras competing for my time........now that the K-x is going to a good home.

So.

What did you take this picture with?

Hmmmm?????

And why, oh why, is the lens cap on the K-5 upside down?

I was only kidding with you - it sure is fun to take a new camera (the Q) and put it through its paces to see what you can do with it.

Nice family shot! A nice shiny new MX-1 would look nice with the group.........

I took it with my phone. Because it's easier to read that way.

I think if I brought one of those into the house my wife would draw the line. I've got the 40XS and the 2nd Q body up for sale in the Marketplace. With the K-x sale and those it's not terrible from a cost standpoint and I have new fun toys to play with too.

Well, I'm officially the owner of 2 Pentax DSLR bodies now!

A bought a K7 + memory card + 2 batteries + the DA 18-250 through a local Craigslist deal from a kind elderly man who was switching to Canon.

Paid just under $600.

Honestly, I was after the lens, although now that I have the body, it is tempting to keep two. The problem is that after learning everything I know with the K30 so far, using the K7 feels like a huge step backwards in terms of the options and capabilities.

I was musing with getting the 18-135 WR after an outdoor trip last week where I got fed up with switching between my 18-55WR and my DA 55-300. Now that I've snagged the 18-250 I can experiment and see if a super-zoom is more my style. The 18-250 is at least equal (maybe a tiny notch below) to the 18-55 in their similar focal lengths, but the 55-300 just wipes the floor with the 18-250.

Now I have the option of sending in my K30 + Sigma 30 1.4 over to the East coast USA for some calibration because I won't be without a camera body. But I might just keep the 18-250 + K30 and sell the rest of the lot and use that cash to buy something nicer.

Decisions!

Keep 18-250 and k30. Sell other gear to buy something nicer/something you would rather own more. Not worth it, imo, to keep camera gear that you don't really use much/don't really want much.
