My latest ebay purchase. I was looking for a small flash to use hand held with my Cactus triggers while out and about in the woods. I am usually hesitant buying used electronic gear on ebay, but this time it worked out great. Looks perfectly new and even came with the original pouch. Works perfectly in all modes. Best $17 I've spent in a long time!

Now that I'm starting to get my photo mojo back, I picked up one of these for $299...

I also picked up a m4/3 to K adapter so I can use my Pentax glass, too!

Just added this baby to my system as OS and Applications drive....

The increase in applications speed is downright scary!

I had surgery yesterday for bone spurs in my right foot. I have been kicking around a tablet for a while and bought a Retina IPad on Wed. Since I'm pretty much stuck in bed or the recliner because I need to keep my foot elevated, I can say at this point that it was money well spent

I assume that's not why you have the bone spur.

They are very nice media consumption devices. If you are a member of Amazon Prime you have access to a lot of free media through that source too. Get well soon.

What actually sold me was a quick demo on a friends. I went to my G+ albums and started looking through my shots. The difference was instantly noticeable, even to a beat up old coot with trifocals. My wife has a Kindle Fire HD and we have Amazon Prime.

Just download the iPad app for Amazon Prime and you too can enjoy access to the video library. Have fun.

Glad to hear this Pat. I am installing an SSD in my new Asus box over the weekend with the same hopes.

My new LowePro TopLoader 75 Pro arrived the other day and I had a chance to put it through its paces today. Very nice bag, much better than the older Toploader 55AW that I've had for 2.5 years. I wrote a review of it for our Camera Bag section that can be found here:

They are getting cheaper quickly - I think in a year or a little more as the size grows and the price comes down, the SSD will be the standard drives in computers.

I just bought a Samsung 128gb SSD for my new Asus box - going to use it as the primary drive for OS and software, then the included 1tb HDD for data. Got mine from Amazon in kit form (drive adapter, cables, and cloning software) for $117.00.

It's 240GB, cost me $180.

You will love it! In my case, it replaces a 500mb 7200rpm HD and boot time has gone from 2-3 minutes to 28 seconds. Program loading of huge software like Photoshop CS6 and Premiere is pretty darn near instantaneous.

So now my system consists of:

Phenom quad core 3.6ghz, 16 gig ram, high end dual head video card, twin monitors
240MB SSD drive (OS and programs)
250mb 7200rpm HD (automatic weekly backup of the SSD with SyncToy)
1TB 7200rpm HD (photos storage)
500mb 7200rpm HD (video and music storage)
3 1TB external USB3/eSATA backup drives.

I was told to keep a regular backup of the SSD as the technology is still fairly young and though unlikely the risk of drive failure is still present, so I set up an old 250gb 7200rpm drive and mirror the SSD on it once weekly using MS SyncToy, That way should my SSD fail, I can just swap in my 250gb drive in it's place and not skip a beat until the warranty replacement arrives.

I'm actually thinking of adding a 128MB SSD as a dedicated Photoshop/Premiere scratch disk. Not sure I'll do it though as the performance of my system "as is" is already blowing me away with the OS/programs SSD.
