It's ... well, it was the same for me : the Vivitar 70-210/3.5 was often short.

the main thing is that most of the time i will use it, i won't be able to use a tripod : i will probably use it mostly when i will be hanging in a rope 90ft above the ground !

I will come to do a report my fellow 5 stars general :P

Got this little case for Mrs Rupert's new X10....which is my old X10 now that I have the X20.

She likes it, and it smells good too!

A new kitchen knife -- a Hattori FH honesuki, micarta handle -- I bought for general purpose. I wanted a 160mm or so single-bevel Japanese blade with a somewhat "chef's knife" design (but thinner at the base), and this boning knive was the closest I could get. As seems to be my usual initiation with a new knife, I promptly sliced through my palm with it. Deadly sharp.

Next knife? Super thin 210mm gyuto, hopefully made of powdered or Aogami super blue steel. Researching that now. Should slice onions as least as well as this semi-stainless Kikuichi (I'll have bandages ready):

Be careful how you hold things. Never cut toward your hand. Hold the potato from the top over the knife and cut away from you. Advice from one whose middle initial is "K" (stands for klutz).

I'll put in a good word for LIH. Free parking if you're there for less than an hour. Walking distance from home when I was there. Uncomplicated traffic pattern. Very fast luggage handling. Served by perennial leader airline in on-time flight performance.

OK, it's not conveniently located for regular travel. And there's no tram.

Latest acquisition

Here's my latest acquisition and my anchor to Kansas City for the foreseeable future.
I am dying for a long prime (70DA? 100DFA?), but it's on hold until my house in Little Rock sells.

Very sharp knife took the whole palm off - he did say it was a boning knife...

The next recent acquisition turned up - Black KX in very good working condition - some brassing on the base edges and around the film box tab holder but great overall.

With Vivitar Close Focus 28 2.8 and Takumar 28mm square hood

I missed that part. It is a very nice knife though. I may have to get one for Mrs. Racer for Christmas.

On my short trip to London I picked up an old, very basic Capital selenium light meter for 6 GBP. It'll be handy for using with my Zeiss Ikon folder. I also bought an old-fashioned cable release, for if I ever get around to using any of the Acros I bought last summer and haven't touched yet. Since Acros doesn't suffer reciprocity failure for ages I can do some night shots.
