My lunch break was spent looking at some pawn shops down the road. They usually don't have anything interesting but I had to go that way to get some air in my tires...

...came back with a Rikenon-P 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 Macro lens. Paid $6.31 including tax. For that price, I thought I'd check out and see if I like a 35-xxx lens before I spend the money on an SMC-A 35-105.

So from looking at the picture, it seems identical to the Tokina RMC 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5, except I can't find a Tokina that has macro (there is a close focusing Tokina that is similar but the writings are different, even if the rest of the lens looks very much the same). Everything else seems the same - focus ring,

The Ricoh pin is the round type so it doesn't get stuck.

As far as the macro goes, it's 0.25 (1:4). I took at pic at MFD with it and another with the A 70-210 Macro and they amplified about the same.

I believe the tape is used to fake the lens having "A" contacts. I don't bother, myself, but some do. I find it just as easy to "Green Button" and adjust as necessary.
I don't see how that would work.

A 28mm f/2 for that price? That's even less than I paid for my Vivitar version and that was a bargain. Don't know if yours has the same optics as mine. Mine is nothing great on digital but very handy on film, though tends to get overlooked for the M 35/2 these days.

Why would you need aluminium tape?
Jonathan, Jean, it was a thread I came across in these forums where someone who had one said they had to use "aluminium tape/ scraping.

A Petri 28mm f2.0 - want to see how good it is compared to the Pentax K 28mm f2.0

Only trouble is it has a black painted rear mount so the aperture doesn't close down with manual metering. It does if I put an extension tube in between, or if I put a bit of Aluminium foil between the lens and the camera body. I've tried scratching off some paint (the jessops extension tube trick) but that doesn't work so I've ordered some Aluminium tape to see if that will do the job !

The Aluminium tape trick seems to work just fine - a handy little tip to store away for the future

Lens Review Date: January 17, 2012 I can recommend this lens: Yes | Price: $120.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp, great colours, smooth focus and bokeh
Cons: Manual - K or M like
Sharpness: 10 Aberrations: 10 Bokeh: 10 Handling: 10 Value: 10

I think this lens is well suited for darker situations, being f2, and at that opening, it is still quite sharp. The bokeh transitions smoothly without any unsightly bright rims on lights/specular reflections in the background. Colors are rendered vibrantly.
As stated in an earlier review, the screw head nearest the locking slot, had to be covered with aluminum tape in order to allow the green button to work properly on my Kx.
I did a bit of research beforehand and found that this lens was made for Petri by Cosina (Cosinon). There were a few other 28/2's available in a K mount in this price range by Vivitar (Kiron/Kino) but these were reviewed to be soft when wide open so I went after the Petri and I am not disappointed.
This lens will be used frequently and is highly recommended.

You inspired me to dust off my Vivitar 28mm f/2 and take it with me today. I posted the best two shots I got in the Vivitar thread here - https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/122-lens-clubs/88217-vivitar-lens-club-share-beauty-44.html - nothing special but I enjoyed using the lens. The build quality is even better than the old K and M series lenses!

As for my latest aquisition...

From Friday's thrift store trip ... a part of the haul.

The best was a "like new" Tamron 18-200 in Canon EF for 3€ and a Raynox 250 for 2€ (well, it kind of looks like a "2") ... will keep the Raynox and trade away the Tammy at the next swap.

The Lomo was 5€ (quite expensive) and the Fujica had a Komura attached that I had to have (just too curious and it's an inter-chagable lens mount) ... 7€ was really a bit too expensive, but it also came with a flash which is not shown ... I know ... I'm nuts, but at least I am having some fun.

After treating myself to the K3ii & 16-85 combo recently I didn't think I'd be getting anything else anytime soon. But then a cashback offer on a Lumix LX100 was far too good to resist.

SMC Pentax-M Macro 1:4 100 mm

Paid $86 through Keh, excellent condition, and looks like new, but missing front and back caps, lens only. I gotta go try out this lens!

Picked up a Kiron 80-200 1:4 macro F4 from a pawn shop today. It's a non A lens and lacks a bit of contrast due to lack of advanced coatings and the filter thread has a small flattish spot so may not accept filters or hoods (55mm fitting) No brassing or major scratches and the aperture blades are snappy (first thing I checked).

Had a $80 tag on it but shop accepted a $50 offer. Not a bargain by Jean Poitier's deal standards but we are talking Australian dollars and context here.
