On the working class block where I grew up the man across the street was a city building inspector.
He had the fanciest house, always had new cars and his kids went to expensive private schools.
All on a civil service salary. Even as kids we knew...

I am sure I could on forever about what I come across in the twenty plus years I have spent working on houses. Instead why don't we take a look at what the big brown truck left at my house yesterday. A new to me lens.
That is awesome - really! Quality over quantity.

A lens of my dreams - and for the time being it will remain a lens of my dreams.

I spent way too much in the past few weeks. Only the bigger items:

Seagate Expansion Desktop (or so) 4 TB... it was Black Friday, and I couldn't resist. Plus some additional backup is always welcome.

IKEA Friheten sofa

IKEA Besta Burs TV longboard (?)

Samsung something or another microwave oven

Siemens washing machine

HP OfficeJet Pro 8615

And the highlight... 50" Panasonic VT30 Plasma. The first they had with the all glass front. A thing of beauty, especially turned on. The picture quality is stellar, though blacks could still be a little bit blacker. Had to drive 1000 km/600 miles to get it, but it was well worth the trip.

Plus I got access to some Hedler DX15, some Manfrotto light stands, a tent, ...

Plasma's are still the dogs bollocks kadajawi, forget oled, led, and whatever, the plasma picture is right out there still in the lead. For fast moving sport, films shot in low light and nature you can't top a plasma imo.

One thing intrigues me. I was in the market for a new plasma and was told Panasonic had only recently stopped making them, where did you get yours if I may ask.

Panasonic said:

"The main reason we have to move on is technology hit a roadblock. We simply cannot make a 4k plasma in a reasonable manner for retail without significant investment…"

Newest additions ... a quick mug shot ... not from my thrift store, but still a pretty good deal in my books.

645 + 150/3.5 + 55/2.8 + large "ADW best" aluminum tool case with padding (not shown) + odd minor accessories ...
