I just got a 2 pack of Feit flashlights form BJ's Wholesale club. They take 3 C size batteries (included) each and at max power, they put out 500 lumens. One of them pretty much lights up the back yard and if I adjust to a narrow beam they really reach out there. Aluminum tube and weather resistant too. Cost was $29.99 USD.

Very nice vintage 3-ways. I can't afford audiophilia.

Very nice score! I really like mine.

Do you have the battery adapter for it?

If not, there's plenty on the 'Bay ... plus the "Yashica Guy" may still be around. I got mine form him.

Imagine my surprise - I got them for what I considered a lowball offer.
Delivered they cost less than any decent K35/2 lens I've looked at...

My latest: Pentax FA 85mm 2.8 SOFT

Just found that in the local ads this weekend...

Could not resist to test it tonight ...
some sample shots inside and outside at night handheld at -10 celcius
minimal PP adjustments on some (crop, min exposure)

sample images here: https://picasaweb.google.com/114227534831015179379/SMCPentaxFA85mmF28SoftSam...eat=directlink

Cant wait to do more tests with better light....

Will require some practice to get the right amount of softness...

Let me know which ones you like!

I like those ones:

In my view the right amount of softness in a photo is zero...

I'm glad you're enjoying your new toy but I can't understand why anyone would want such a lens. I see old soft portraits or other shots and I think they look awful Remnants of an old and unpleasant photographic style.

Because sometimes artistry is more important than technicality. I am a great lover of photographing in fog and that produces nothing sharp.

The old adage, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Soft focus is not really my "thing," but there are times when it makes the photo more interesting. Just look at the number of photos that are considered beautiful and proper with bokeh, but without it are flat and uninteresting.

Surprise, surprise. I went to my local camera store and found that someone had traded in his K-5. Among the lenses he had was this nice Sigma 150-500 Bigmos. Got it for $500.

I also got the 1.4x extender but the K-3 will not AF or even fire with it between the body and lens. It does AF with my Kenko 1.5x extender because the Kenko doesn't report itself to the K-3. It's slower, hunts back and forth, and affects the IQ quite a bit though.

Center crop, no TC, and no added sharpening.

IFAIK the Sigma 1.4X does not work with any HSM lens, but the Kenko does because it has the relevant contacts (Pentax Pz, etc). OTOH, the 150-500 HSM is a relatively slow focusing lens anyway due to the wide focal range and the large barrel rotation required to cover that range - confirmed via my contact at Sigma Imaging UK! My screw-drive Sigma 100-300 F4 has much faster AF!

Actually the lens by itself focused with instant lock on the K-3. The Bigmos I rented last year did as well. I forgot about the Pentax mount TC not being compatible with the HSM lenses. When I had the 100-300 + TC on the K20D the AF was pretty fair but not as good as the Bigmos. The Canon mount 100-300 HSM + TC on an old 1D Mk II N was a fantastic combo. The Canon mount Bigmos HSM + TC was also terrific and would AF quickly at f/9 on the 1D Mk II N. Thanks for the reminder on the TC.
