I've not owned anything that came after the K20D Pentax wise... still using stone tablets me.

So the K1 is a "chalk a cheese" difference for me, perhaps it will not be so noticeable for you with your much later cameras.

I would still recommend you might want to consider a change up at the earliest opportunity, as the K1 does have an LX feel about it in so many ways, if you remember back to your film days.

I'm really chuffed with my K-1. I love the OVF! I'd sell my K-3 except I need the crop sensor for wildlife. Next year's tax refund goes for another K-1 (or maybe a K-1 II ?).

For all intents & purposes (and despite my advanced age), I had no film days. My one exploration into film was with the Auto 110 and I quickly realized that, in order to get the output I wanted, 1. I would have to develop & print myself and 2. that was not.going.to.happen. The doors opened with digital.

Wow ok, that's gonna make giving you comparisons difficult.

Yeah, pretty much. But that's ok that kind of thing goes over my head. All I care about is getting the best shot with the gear I've got (and I've got a lot to learn about that.)

Heh, heh, heh--my cunning plan to pick up a lightly-used K-3 in the marketplace once the K-1 deliveries hit worked like a charm.

FWIW I suggested this the day after the K-1 was officially announced: Link: Pentax Forums post 3536882

I understand. I was mostly happy with my K200D, my first DSLR. I could have done with a better focusing screen (I was used to Nikon and Nikkormat film cameras), but the picture quality was surprisingly good. But then I saw a review of the then new K5 in late 2010 and was blown away by the quality of the low-light, high ISO shots. I phoned around the camera shops in my area until I found one and I bought it the same day. I'm sure that I paid a lot more than I would have a year later, but ...

From what I've seen of the K1, it may be a game changer. It's not an immediate, must have, ignore the cost item, but I'm very tempted.

Regards,
Richard.

A lot of LEDs. We bought this house in October last year. Halogen downlights in all the main living areas. Mix that with high ceilings and bulbs don't get replaced. Everything was replaced with LEDs today. We'll get the invoice in a few days. That will be exciting

Richard.

The game has just changed. I just got an email from my middle brother with the subject = "Addiction". The message said that my sister-in-law had stopped blaming me now that she realises he has a mental illness. As soon as I saw the subject, I knew what was coming and I was right. Aaaagh! The attachment was a selfie taken into a mirror with his new K-1.

I suppose that it is my fault, in some ways. My brother bought his first Pentax, a Spotmatic, in the 1960s when he was still in high school. He acquired a few lenses and still has the old Taks and Super Taks. He'd been quite content using high-end digital point and shoots until I went to England in 2012 with my K-5 and a few lenses including a DA* 16-50. He liked this shot of Jamie so much, that he went out and bought a K-5 and an M42 converter and then a DA* 16-50.

My sister-in-law blamed me because, as she said, they couldn't afford to put food on the table. Yeah. Right He started upgrading to just about every new upgrade body that was released. Naturally, I got the blame. Of course. But, hey, I explained that a man's got to do what a man's got to do. What more could she ask for?

I think that I'll be able to resist. Please wish me luck

Regards,
Richard.

Well, the big brown truck of happiness delivered my package from B&H today. Sadly they did not pack a K1 by mistake. All I got were two Wemberley 1" Riser Blocks, a bag for a gimbal head and an Op-Tech 11" Accessory Pack. That little Op-Tech accessory pack is awesome. I may need a few more.

I read with envy many times on some of the members "scores" at a local garage sale, thrift shop or discount bin. Always wondering why not me?

Well...today was my turn. At a local thrift shop was a battered briefcase with an old Pentax ME of which I had no interest in, a old Chinon film camera with a 28-210 lens ... Again no interest...some wires and old filters...nothing I had a desire for...

And then opening a tattered leather lens case I saw it....

In nearly mint condition...a Pentax SMC 30mm f2.8 ....

The shop wanted $100 for the whole shebang...I negotiated it all for $68 and walked out with a grin.

Good to know--I'll put "Learn film photography" at the bottom of my bucket list.
