does everyone know the Husband's rule about buying cast iron cook ware for their spouse?

the lighter the cast iron, the greater the range

so either stand farther away or buy the heaviest cast iron cook ware you can

critical thing to know if you tend to violate " guide lines " on purchasing photographic equipment

I think it's standard equipment in the wife genes.

I've seen it in some husbands about their spouse's spending too. He wants to keep the money in his jeans.

I'm afraid you're all too right. I guess that harks back to when he was the sole provider in the family? Not the norm to the same degree any more.

Of course, expenses for photo related gear shouldn't be restricted in the same way as other stuff.

I'd never create a spreadsheet or list, even for insurance purposes.
If I did I'd be forced to face how much money I've invested/wasted...

Chris
It is for cost records, since I get a bloodsucking tax report from PayPal. .

I'm fortunate that the wife is also a photographer, and also doesn't work, thus, she knows how much I spend as she is often the benefactor.
She doesn't know how much my drum kit and assorted bits cost though...

Hood for Pentax-FA* 645 300mm f 4.0

While the 645/300 was away to dcshooter for CLA, I located and acquired a hood to match, and now the two are united. This medium format 300mm is not a cheap lens, but I found a dirty copy for only $299, and dcshooter has done a fantastic job of cleaning and adjusting and making my copy look and work like new!

Thanks for the suggestion

You caught me at a weak moment, and...

Ok, dividing the sum over the years it has taken me to accumulate all the junk equipment makes it look less bad. Smoking 20 a day would have cost me much more

Edit: Just wanted to add that a pack of 20 cigarettes costs about $15 where I live, so I can finance a heck of a lot of gear by not smoking. And if it's something really expensive I can finance it by not smoking 30 a day

Savoche, discount fags at that price. In Australia they are much more. I really wonder how it is that it is the poor people who seem to have the loot to smoke more.

Pasadena camera show - a 'pristine' Pentax M zoom - 1:4.5 80-200mm - $30
This lens looks like it just came out of the original case. Not even scratches on the exterior - no dust, no haze, no nothing.

Seems kind of sad for people to have had such things so long and done so little with them.

Not if you're the one who buys it for $30.

We got my F 70-210 for $35 CAD. Maybe he got ripped off.
