My Soviet bellows arrived today. Very nice condition indeed - near-mint, in fact

No doubt, wool rules.

wool keeps you warm even if wet

cotton when wet kills - it wicks away the warm of your body

for winter/cold weather activities, wool all the way

Wool can also keep you cool in the heat of summer.

I've got one of those - same box and condition, except the box itself is a bit tired. They're the most rigid bellows I've ever owned, and the focusing rail underneath is very useful. Currently I've got a 135 with M42 mount designed for bellows use on it, but it's really a bit too long for my needs - next time I get a really good Helios or something of the sort I'll probably swap.

Personally I prefer the army ones, but the airforce one is the one I found for $5.

In fact, I quite like military surplus equipment; it's practical. Right now I'm looking for a battledress tunic to wear with my kilt.

BX "evolution" in the form of the BX20 (with the winder!) - and it helped me to get one of my personal "iconic" images. It's right in front of me on the chimney breast in the form of an "out of my world" shot in Jamaica in 1998 - not "that sharp" but very "atmospheric"
I don't think I've ever seen a BX20 - mostly I get BC1 and BCA, from what I've read the BC1 has a lot of the same features as the BX20 but isn't so reliable. The BCA is fully auto only and I would never buy one unless it came with some lenses or something, they're pretty much unsellable. I've seen several bodies with dead electronics, unfortunately, and the lens electronics aren't wonderful either, I think it's just a carbon resistor track coupled to the aperture ring.

Looks like a toy

I finally bought a cordless soldering iron:

Reviews for the Hakko FX901 say it works well and offers long battery life.

When I need to solder at work an electrical outlet is seldom nearby.
Years ago they issued us a butane model, and then took them away immediately
when they remembered their prohibition against using flame-producing devices.

Another iMac G4, this time the 17" model - first one I've ever got with the original box, unfortunately it's the 800mhz model which means I can't upgrade it past 1GB RAM and OSX 10.4, and can't put in a useful WiFi card because it will only accept the old wireless B Airport card. Cost me £40 and should make a small profit, but I think it may be the last one I upgrade, it's a lot of work compared to cameras and lenses and proportionally less profitable.

FA 77 arrived yesterday. I took the obligatory cat photo just to test it, but haven't really had time to play with it.
