Thanks, I think the silver looks fine!

It is so much like the K5 but so much not like it. My head hurts with all the custom settings.

The batteries that seem to work well in the BC range are 4LR44 - but I have no idea on long-term accuracy. They're relatively cheap, about a fiver for ten of them.
Thanks

Just ordered a couple for £3 to check out both Practica bodies again, and they should be here around New Year - don't need any more than 2 because I don't intend to use the bodies much (if at all) and have nothing else that uses that battery size.

Just picked up a Canon FD 55/1.2 lens I've had my eye on for a while.

It turned out that there was a last car boot fair today, and I got a few toys;

Minolta Dynax (Maxxum) 3xi with 35-80 power zoom
Zenit 11 (I think - it has the Russian name on it, not the usual 11) with Helios 44-M-4 lens
And an Ohnar optical slide copier

Total £24, all clean and working well so I should make a little profit.

I've recently bought a number of tools/accessories to fix old lenses even when i'm here, in Thailand.
Bought a set of lens spanners, a set of rubbers "caps" to open beauty rings (still waiting for the parcel), a roll of adhesive copper tape, goldsmith files, JIS screwdrivers, and a bunch of other little things including a toothbrush for children with suction cup end (to extract glasses without flipping over the barrel).
I've also found a very cheap a P-TTL compatible extension cord, that will come very handy with my Yongnuo YN585 P-TTL flash.
It's JJC brand, and works very well, as all the other cheap JJC accessories i've tried.

My collector self found a way to be happy on the cheap, with four inexpensive lenses that hopefully will also be of some interest to my photographer alter ego:

- another old Komura to add to the list, this time it's a 4.5/200mm in M42 mount; it comes with a nice SMC Pentax front cap that could find place on one of my vintage Pentax optics, and the mount should be easily converted to PK, and fitted to other Komuras with the wrong bayonet...

- two chrome-nosed 2/50mm, one is a Yashinon-DX and the other a Mamiya Sekor Auto; the vintage is not exactly the same, but i guess i will find out that both are six elements Tomioka-made, almost identical one to the other. My guess is that they will keep their low price for a very short time, as these humble objectives are among the best double gauss fifties of moderate aperture. With all the limitations of single-coated lenses, i expect great rendition, if they are not damaged.
More about their performance in due time...

- an Isco Westron 2.8/35mm; as far as i know it's the same glass of the Schneider Curtagon of same speed/focal, it just has less diaphragm leaves and a barrel made with a mix of plastic and metal

All these lenses were very cheap, a pity the shipment charge sometimes almost doubles the cost!
My photographer side will get more substantial (and not so dirty cheap!) Christmas/New Year gifts, but the process is still not completely definite. Keeping my fingers crossed
I'm not undervaluing old inexpensive lenses though.
Quite the contrary, actually.
If those i've just bought will give me half of the fun (and half the great pics) i'm getting with an insanely cheap Helios 44-2 i've recently found, i'd be more than happy. I guess i will, if there are no major damages and the glasses could be nicely cleaned...

I wish you all a merry Xmas and a happy New Year

cheers

Paolo

My brother sent me a gift card in his Christmas card. I bought the FA100/2.8 Macro that’s been in the Marketplace forever and a day.

My New Year’s resolution is ‘Post to the Forum.’ Maybe I’ll start with my newest lens.

got these for 2 bucks at a flea market. I don't know for the kodak but the HP5 is at least 28 years old.

~30 year old film has got to be difficult to use...

Or did you get it more to display?

Here's a shot I did with Agfa Superpan 200 (Expired July 1984) just a few months ago.
I'm sure I'll be able to get something from this HP5, I think I'll rate it at ISO100. The Ektachrome 64 hummm I have no idea, worst case scenario I'll lose a dollar.
