Picture that with canvas and that’s what I was looking at.
Nice, nothing wrong with canvas, I (humbly) think that canvas looks better on the SWB.

Just sold an original yashica t to fund a pair of Pentax m42 bellows I won a bid for. Next project is to acquire a rms to m42 adapter to put this to use.

Well the insurer finally paid up, and I replaced my flute that was stolen from me.

Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited +11mm extension tube Godox AD360 + reflector.

I'm now the owner of an Altus 1307, completely handmade. Now I have to spend time getting used to it - it is in several ways superior to the instrument I played for 14 years.

That looks beautiful. I've got some flutist friends, so I've seen many up close. I even took a couple of lessons, just to get a feel for what playing another (a different one from the ones I already play I mean! ) instrument is like.

Photo is very nice as well, love the light plays on the wood veneer.

That's solid 120 year old Redgum there..no veneer. Removalists had to shift my furniture when I moved house a few years ago - they were expecting light pine & cheap Ikea rubbish. Instead they got Bespoke furniture in Redgum, Baltic pine, Blackwood, Jarrah, Walnut* and some rarities in Lignum Vitae, Kingwood and Snakewood.

*basically all the woods that are so dense they sink when placed in water.

Sorry, meant the wood grain or what you call it.
In Italian we use - among others - the word venatura, hence the brain fart...
Veneer we say impiallacciatura, which has a much slapdash-ier sound to it

In Tuscany we use olive wood a lot. It doesn't sink - 990 kg/m3- but it's close

Just in... A really lovely and quite rare early M39 KMZ Helios-44 2/58, 13 blade f/2 - f/22 diaphragm, "000"-prefix serial number.

It's just as the seller described - in fact, I'd say he was rather conservative. Very fine condition physically, with just a few minor signs of pitting. Optically, it's great - save for a few very light cleaning marks on the front element. For it's age, quite excellent condition.

Came with the correct (and probably original) metal front cap, KMZ rear cap and leather case. Oh, and the seller kindly sent a little fridge magnet of his home town, Tomsk

It appears that lens will rarely if ever need a thread-on lens hood. The front element is really deeply recessed. Reminds my of my 50mm f4 pre-set Takumar macro, Pentax's first macro lens which I purchased as soon after it was introduced as I was able. The tiny front element was way down in there.

I'd agree on LWB too, I'd like one like this, maybe one day it'll be a latest acquisition.

Reminds me of the Land Rovers I used to ride on safari in Tanzania, though I never saw one this clean and pristine..

Looks just marvelous... the 13-bladed aperture should make for nice sunstars... I have very few lenses with an odd number of blades, and enjoy a lot shooting with them.

The should be several dates on film and also on perishable food:

1) sell-by date.
2) eat-by date.
3) medical appointment date.
And the "All bets are off - good luck" date should fall between 2 and 3.

I don't play enough to really be jealous, but my nicest flute is a Sonare SF5000, basically a Powell headjoint with a chinese (but nice chinese) body.

Mouseover text: I am firmly of the opinion that if something doesn't have a year on it, every time the expiration date rolls around it is good again for the two weeks preceding that date.

I bought a cheap set of Jessops brand extensions tubes for Minolta SR-mount cameras, will hopefully be able to pick them up tomorrow.

The headjoint makes a big difference, as long as they mechanism is sturdy it will last a long time. In my quest to find a replacement for my flute I did try two powell handmade flutes, but along with Burkart and Miyazawa they didn't suit my playing. It was a close contest between a Haynes Q4 flute and the Altus 1307, I bought the Altus because of its greater range of tone colours, scale and the design of its keywork which suits my rather long fingers.
