I prefer Nikon to Canon for no particular reason. It's my understanding that at least some Pentax lens work on Canon but not on Nikon. It's rumored that you have a couple of Pentax lenses so I'm curious why you went with Nikon.
Well, I'm not even sure I'll keep any of the lenses in the second picture (the mid-range zooms) as I have the 24-120/4 VR coming in on Friday
The rumor is true, I do have a few Pentax lenses
I did sell off my three FA* lenses on Monday to fund what's posted above. But that still leaves a pretty healthy collection including 7 limiteds and 3 DA* lenses (and then some). So I'm not sure I'd label myself a turncoat quite yet... more like exploring my options
As for my Nikon over Canon, I think I just felt it was a better fit for what I wanted. The main things I was looking for was improved AF speed and accuracy, especially in low light. From everything I read and from the people who I talked to who have owned both, the D700 seemed like the best choice for me. I tried a 5D MkI last year right when I was in between K-5 bodies (stain issues) and it just never really won me over. That said, I did really like the 70-200/2.8 and 70-200/4 I tried while I was playing around with Canon.
Originally posted by kenafein I think to use K mount lenses on a Canon requires surgery, not so for M42s.
My understanding is that K-mount lenses need surgery to mount on a FF Canon. M42 lenses on the other-hand are fine since they don't have an aperture level that needs to be removed.
