Not bad! I'd have thought a 30' sailboat would cost the same as that car.:ugh:
Careful purchasing, "brilliant" negotiating and a sharp economic downturn is what got me the boat for a fantastic price. Very rarely do I purchase anything new. Whey pay the hefty depreciation just for the sake of that new fibreglass smell.

My better half did get new. In this case she ended up with a 2009 Kia Sportage.

Yes, The Pass Labs XOno will stop LBA in it's tracks. Especially after paying for it leaves you broke.

I figured that for 50 cents it would make a nice pocket camera. Everything seems to work except for the shutter speed display in the viewfinder, which works off of a different metering circuit than the aperture priority metering system. So long as I can guess within 3 or 4 stops of the correct aperture the metering system should take care of getting a decent exposure. The place I bought the camera at sells point and shoots by weight, and they probably have 50 plus in a bin at the back at any given time.
if they have 50 of those at that price you should go into business they sell for a lot more than 50 cents on ebay (or anywhere for that matter) heck if you see another at 50 cents when your in buy it for me, I'll send you $20 plus shipping charges

(the XA, not the later variants which weren't true RF's but zone focus models)

oooohh knife porn. I have a ridiculous amount of good knives yet for some reason can't stop buying them myself (KBA ? )
Always a good investment just keep em sharp so you don't cut yourself (sounds like an oxymoron but it's not)

Never can have too many knives. I have to hide mine when my mother in law comes over. She refuses to use them correctly and refuses to stick to the cheap knives in the block on the counter. Maybe a nice knife bag should be my next purchase.

My late father-in-law, ex-detective and commander of his power squadron, had a 25-foot cruiser. And a posted sign about a boat being a hole in water into which one poured money. Actually, he burned through a couple cruisers, and a fair amount of money. And there I stood with my yard-sale canoe. Need power? Lash a line to the Golden Retriever and throw him in the drink -- a one dogpower drive system, no problem.

Knife porn!! I love (kitchen) knives! I just got me the one I've been yearning for: a big ol' cleaver! Weighs a ton! Got it at my favorite store here aside from B & H, which would be Zabar's!

Had a bit of a great surprise today so would like to share...

Took delivery of a well sealed box from a collegue who worked in this small town for a few weeks last year on contract. Semi retired and into bird watching and similar interests so we eventually got to talking about old cameras. He said that his wife had a pentax in the cupboard and that if it was still there he would send to me when he got back home - having had similar conversations and assurances before I didn't think about it again and never expected to see a camera sent my way.

The shoe box sized plastic box contained a well wrapped Pentax Spotmatic SP 1000 with Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 1:1.4/50mm lens and a Hanimex 2.8/28mm lens. The Hanimex has its original box and purchase receipts etc and the Spottie and Tak lens had a receipt for a CLA service from 1996 or so. - The latter two are well used and travelled but still in grand condition - a bit of superficial mildew here and there and a little wispy internal fungus growth but nothing to impede normal usage. Battery and meter still work and body comes with a cold shoe adapter on the viewfinder! Made my day.

Very nice Arjay !

In the same kind, i was visiting my grand parents few days ago, and my grand pa' gave me this. He told me that he was using it during 1962 and 1963 when he was working for Kodak !

At that time, Kodak used to lend some camera to its employe. My grand pa' used the first 3 Leica M, and even a version for "war reporting". it was a Leica with a special back with two big canister, that could handle a film of 200 shots! Lots of sparks in his eyes ... and in mine

And i bought this two weak ago : MZ-5n with grip.

My attention was aimed at the Porst 55/1.2 - did it come with the package as well?

Nop ! It came in december 2011. It was such a bargain the trace you can see on the lens is not fungus, just some mark due to water condensation ! Cost me 90€ (delivery included).

Since i got the MZ-5n, I use the combo every time ! Or with the 28/2 kiron. I will try the 35/2.4 and the 40/2.8 soon i think

Make that 2 Tonner Arwen dolls, smile. They're still on sale and somebody got me a second one when she saw how much I liked her. Why? So I could do a wig and eye color change and give her an Elven BFF! The idea appeals. The sculpt on the doll is so gorgeous I'd hate to change it if I only had one, but at the same time I think I really like the idea of giving her a pal a lot actually.

Arwen she'd only be lonely being the only Elf in the house anyway, and I've got no Aragorn to pair her up with, so this works out pretty well. At some point I'd really like to get Galadriel and Legolas but finding them on deep discount isn't very likely so they'll just have to wait a bit. I like Strider too, and I could have had him for a song actually, but the CC is maxed so he'll have to wait too.

It's really nice having a second Arwen though. Gives me a chance to make a whole new Elven character. She'll have to be a cousin or something I suppose, some resemblance will still be there even if I change her hair and paint her up a little, but this could be a whole lot of fun customizing my own Tonner Elf lady...

;P
