newest acquisition so far....

Metz 58 AF-2, testing it extensively to get familiar with its myriad of functions.

I hope I will not regret buying this...

LOL not sure i was always patient, but funnily enough the jupiter after watching where they went and having set a max of $99 on 4 of them, i set a max of $75 on this one and won, at $75 + 19.75 shipping (From India - but seller has positive ratings and communicates pretty promptly unlike some others i've dealt with)
Mostly I just decided on a max bid on any of them entered it and let it ride, I've lost way more than I've won (about 3 to 1 ratio) and only 2 of the purchases hit my max. Still have one lowball bid on an Olympus MJU for a small af film P/S that I'm surprisingly still winning (My bid is about 15% of market value LOL)

Now to focus on selling enough to fund the 3 AF lenses I want (a much harder proposition than this where the kit has cost less than a good used DA21 )

Well, I need to adopt your approach. I am to receive the replacement for the damaged 70-200/2.8 today but I wanted new so I got it for about $50 less than the going rate but still that's a bit. I'm selling off a few lenses (6 items so far and 5 more are awaiting buyers) but any other lenses will have to be from the used column for some time to come.

LOL I never, repeat never have this kind of luck with AF lenses. Best AF value I have ever got was right here for my DA35 2.4 form a fellow Canuck so no issues with taxes due to the border (AF lenses I am trying to stick to used within Canada because If they cross the border the carrier is required to collect the 13% tax above a certain $ level - I will get nailed on 2 of the lenses i won)
Problem is in many cases i see prices that are so close to what i can get them retail with a 2 year warranty there is no incentive to buy them used.

That was precisely why I wanted a new one, and its a rather expensive lens. They seem to be going for $650 or so used. They are $769 new everywhere right now with no discounts. I had a voucher for $50 off that was good only on electronics because of a mistake by Amazon and it was about to expire. So, because the other one that I got for less was damaged I went ahead with Amazon for $719. Given that Tamron has a 6 year warranty (but its not transferrable) I think its a better bargain at $719 with the warranty than it is for $650 with no warranty. Plus I just love that new lens smell

Same reason I would pay more to buy a canadian sigma rather than US. In Canada there is a 10 year warranty. As new bodies get developed sometimes these reverse engineered lenses need a software update to make them more compatible.

Here is a shot of the rangefinder I picked up. Except for sticker goo across the lightmeter (or whatever that is up there by the viewfinder) the camera is in almost pristine shape. It even has a teleconverter with it. I bought it for looks more then anything.

It has an arm on the bottom you throw to advance the film, which means you could fire off a roll VERY quick for manual advance, which tempts me to take it somewhere with a lot of action to see just what this old camera could do.

Apparently its known by 2 names - a Ricoh 500 or a Ricoh Jet.

Well, I just got myself my wife a Samsung NX200 to replace my her good old NX100...

It's really a joy to use, fast and capable, and the perfect street shooter and go-anywhere camera with the 30mm f/2 pancake on...

It often wins the "which camera to bring?" debate against my K5+30/1.4 combo...

Sagitta, I used to have a rangefinder with a film advance like that. They look weird, but work great. Mine got destroyed when my kidsotook it out to play with it and left it in a neighbor's yard. His lawnmower took care of he rest. Happened many many moons ago.

WEG....

Sennheiser USA - Cordless Headphones - RS 120 - Wireless Stereo Sound - Personal Audio

My Dad just won these tonight in a door prize raffle thing here at the park. Guess who's got them? I read the reviews and I told him he should keep them that they are supposed to be very good? He said to just take them. He didn't want to swap out the set he's got on the TV now. These things they are AWESOME. I can walk out into the yard and down the street and I can hear them crystal clear. Near perfect highs and bass, perfect mid range. They're $100-125 most places and apparently they're worth every penny. I've seen reviews talking about hiss and that but these don't hiss at all. I think the most of the people complaining just didn't know what a freakin tuning dial is. Best set of headphones I ever owned, I think.I am sitting here listening to Prince and I can hear EVERYTHING.

What luck... these things are darn awesome. I tried one in a mall some months back. Ended up buying a lens, though..

My Tamron 70-200/2.8 finally arrived in good shape. The box looked like it had never been touched, which is completely different from how the first 2 boxes were destroyed (like worse than anything I have ever seen) by UPS. I have to put it through its paces this weekend but so far so good. Pluses to Amazon and how they handled the whole process too. Next day early AM delivery as a courtesy really seemed to make a difference!
