I had a "near acquisition" experience yesterday evening...and it was due to my actual latest acquisition, a Pentax Q. I had noticed a week or so ago that my local Goodwill had a selection of leather wristbands intended for Nikon 1 cameras, so I decided to swing by last night and pick one up for my new Q. As I was waiting in line, I noticed a large metal Canon case on the other check-out counter. I'm not sure what it was designed for, but it was obviously for some seriously expensive lens, like a 300mm f2.8 maybe. They had it priced for $299, so I thought maybe the lens was inside. I had my wife open it and look inside. There was an AE-1 with an off-brand 28mm on it, an old case for the AE-1, and some miscellaneous stuff. All this stuff was sitting on a top shelf inside the case and I could tell there was still a large space underneath, but my wife couldn't look because there were too many things to hold and still be able to open the shelf. I had been waiting quite a while to check out or else I would have gotten out of line and gone over to look inside myself. At the time, it seemed like the cashier couldn't possibly have been moving any slower!
Once I was able to go over and look, I opened up the shelf and saw...not much. Just more miscellaneous junk.
I decided to dig through it just in case I was overlooking something and the first things I spotted was a couple of Pentax 110 lens, still in their clear plastic cases. There was a 50mm, a 24mm, and also a flash....but no 110! There was also a Canon 50mm and an old Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm zoom. Decent gear, but definitely not what I was hoping for. A swing and a miss...rats!
