Just sent the money for a early silver MIJ FA43/1.9 Limited. Deep breath. Thus beginneth the oft-threatened change to K-01, K-3 and the Princesses.

Not saying every single film camera and MF lens is going away, but I'd like to get down to a simple few that I actually use.

Not one to simply post a link to this in the Price Watch section, I actually bought the Nest NT-6294 carbon fiber tripod at the $147 sale price! It has thick 29mm top tubes and 4 sections with their innovative "limited rotation" leg locks (1/4 turn until it stops either way to lock/ unlock). The detachable monopod leg and automatic, 180° leg angles are nice extras.

I was reviewing its smaller sibling (the 6265, five sections, smaller 26mm top tube), and liked the blue aluminum leg locks and build quality enough to finally replace my 11-year old Feisol 3401 (which has plastic leg locks that rotate whenever the upper section is loosened). Not really an "upgrade" in terms of size or weight, but I think I paid $250 in 2003 for the Feisol, and this was just the deal to push me over the edge.

Expect to see a Feisol 3401 carbon tripod for "a very good price" in the next few days...

I got a PK lens --> EOS body (with AF confirmation) adaptor from Monochrome. If my K-5 dies I will still be able to use my 90 macro (my only lens with an aperture ring... :-)

Watch those stop down levers on K lenses, the 5D's mirror probably isn't going to clear unless you modify the mirror or the lens (hence all the mutilated Pentax lenses out there and the development of mirror shaving).

Yah - guess what I didn't find on the hind end of the lens that adapter came off of. *

[EDIT: It was all my fault and the seller is making nice - I'm keepting it anyway because otherwise it is exquisite and Eric can fix it.].

* RTFP :facepalm:

I like "Platinum" a lot more than the Ricoh name, which makes me think of a 1980's Chrysler with corinthian leather...

It looks like that $30 300mm Sears prime may arrive a touch earlier than expected. Its been a while since I've been this stoked about a lens arriving - I've been wanting to acquire this particular one for a long while, even if its absolute junk.

I hit some bizarre branch of LBA where I'm collecting simply for the brand moreso then if the lens is actually any good or not.

Operating on the assumption that market participants are usually wrong, does this mean you and I have insight or that the sellers have insight?

Have you started on the Cheryl Tiegs Collection yet?
