That is a good camera. I have one of those, and it is the little brother to Canon's flagship F1 professional camera. It takes all the FD and FL lens that are nowadays pretty cheap to buy. Hope you decide to run a roll of film through it! Congratulations on the find.

I pulled the trigger last week on a new K-3 for $859.99, and expecting it tomorrow.

I am also fortunate to pick up two 645 lens: the 200 mm and the 80-160 mm zoom. I am looking forward to trying them out on my film 645, but it is nice to know that they will fit my new Pentax 645Z (when I get one, I mean).

I'm awaiting a $50 Sigma 21-35mm f/3.5-4.2 from robertscamera/ebay (they have a slightly different one for $56 if anyone else wants to play!). I hear this is the original superwide zoom, so every 35 years or so Sigma does the impossible in wide zooms Apparently they reworked this a few times then made an AF version in the mid-80s. Has the 'A' aperture, infinity is to the left like Pentax, fixed lens shade and it's a 1-touch design. I'm thinking this could be a very nice video lens? It's a bit slower (and cheaper) than the 20-40, just a pinch slower than the DA21, a pinch faster than the DA35/2.4, and limited in quantity if not quite of Limited quality

And of course, it's ready for the FF camera

Just acquired an FA*24/2 on a very good deal after helping the seller with marketing a few FA* lens and others including the beastly FA*600/4. I started out with the 600/4 in mind, but it proved to be too much lens (weight and investment) for me. Managed to reach a PF buyer on the forum and in South Africa to boot, so seller was in a good mood when I showed interest in the FA*24. One good turn etc...

Anyway, nice clean 24/2 fills a small hole in prime collection between DA15/4 and DA35/2.4, and very happy with colors and rendering it produces.

Eric Hendrickson is the best Pentax repairman and his price cannot be beat.
However LX repair/overhaul is complex and more expensive than other models.

Unfortunately the Pentax LX is a camera one seldom gets into on the cheap.

Chris
Update on the Pentax LX: I did send the camera to Eric Hendrickson for repairs. I consider the price of repairing the camera, including the damage I did to the prism housing after I disassembled it to try to repair (bad, bad of me) the viewfinder glass that fell inward after I try to clean it, very fair ( on the cheap side), since I expected to be charge more because of the prism assembly damage. $249 only.. awesome. It seems that Eric is a sought after repairs specialist since it will take some time to get the camera back due to others being ahead, but he came trough for me when I requested from him if I could have it by October 4. I would recommend him wholeheartedly.

I just got this one but it's going right back where it came from... ("working condition", my [EXPLETIVE DELETED].)

This one gets to stay, though:

Thrift store "feast and famine" syndrome ... now is pretty much a "famine time" lately with little interesting hitting the shelves/bins ...

But I did get this Prakticar extension tube (with contacts) set for 2€, which is very nice and will go well with my other Prakticar gear.

And also I picked up a broken set of PERL brand water-proof binoculars (Gibralter model, 10 x 42) for 5€ ... I hoped that I could repair them, but too many pieces are missing and someone has already dissembled and ruined the central focus knob and hinge pin.

Shame. These binoculars retail for 169 € (!!!) in France, and I do not think it's worth the expense and hassle to send away for a possible repair. I guess that I will used them as two separate monoculars ... or maybe I will take one half and try to "Franken-lens" it into something bizarre

Twice this week I was ready to buy something off of Craigslist, and had agreed to pay asking price and was just about to pick it up, when I got a message saying "I was selling this for someone else and they changed their mind about it". One was a Pentax SF10 with a 50mm lens, the other was a Minolta setup with 3 lenses, one of which was a Vivitar 200mm 3.5 which is what I actually wanted...

I must pay better attention.
Bought a mint Sigma 150-500mm off the classifieds.
Thought I'd done my homework.
Turns out this version didn't offer OS for Pentax - in the real, fine, print.
No Biggie - pun not intended, maybe.
The K-5 has IS -
Love this new beast.
I had one and didn't miss the OS at all.

Stories like this make me glad I don't even have access to Craigslist around here.

It's been several months since anything remotely interesting showed up on Craigslist. Last year I got a couple Pentax film cameras with lenses which actually got my manual lens setup started, so I shouldn't be one to complain... last year I also got a Minolta camera for a very good price, which is the reason I also shoot Minolta now. Haven't gotten anything from ads since, only the occasional BHPhoto and KEH order for about a year now.

Craigslist has gotten really stupid the past year or so. Crazy prices for everything, 90% of the people that email you when you are selling are scammers who just want to get your real email or phone # so they can cram your inbox with spam and/or put you on some phone sales list for whatever. Or they're acting like normal people at first but when you actually try to set up a local meeting they just end up trying to pull the fake check "Can you mail it?" scam thing. I've had a ton of photography/toy related stuff up for more than a year. Unlike most listed mine is actually reasonably priced so I get a lot of emails, but when I do it's dealers trying to take it all off my hands for a pittance and/or people trying the check scam. Or they actually pretend to make an appointment but don't show up. I've had ONE local guy answer an ad this year, actually show up and buy the items he wanted. CL used to be a good place for me to sell, a reasonable alternative to Ebay, but not lately. It's been a total bust for like 18 months at least now.
