Agreed I don't mind if she needs a service, so long as the overall condition is nice - I'm happy to invest in some TLC for the old girl. As you say, nearly 40 years old... I was feeling in need of a boost by 40 too

Like new classic Gralab 300 timer, $40 shipped from a good seller in APUG classifieds:

It's just like the one I had in my first darkroom. I have a more compact digital enlarging timer,
but the big Gralab analog timer just can't be beat when developing film in a daylight tank.

New lens Pentax-A 35-105 zoom f 3.5 macro

This lens just arrived, and I have taken a few test shots in undesirable full sun. For the conditions, I believe the lens does pretty well.

My least expensive photographic equipment purchase in the last 18 months, and one I'm very happy to have:

A good quality 9B pencil to use on filter and step-up ring threads, making them less likely to get stuck!

I imagine you already know, but I'm fairly sure this will have the infamous Ricoh pin, so beware.

Looks very nice.

Amazingly good idea. I bought some graphite lubricant but I was leery of using it because the graphite powder can very easily end up in an unwanted area, with a pencil, it can be applied much more precisely with less mess.

Thanks!

Well, I've used pencil graphite successfully on my filter threads for a little while now, but only just switched to 9B grade on the recommendation of another forum member here (I used to use HB). The rationale is that there is higher graphite-to-clay ratio, so less clay to bung up the threads. Additionally, it's softer, which I'm finding makes it easier to apply...

I was on my way to a work meeting and spotted a couple of interesting items in a second-hand shop. A Yashica Mat 124G (one of which I already have) for €75 and a Yashica Electro AX with Yashinon DS-M 50/1.4 for €25.

The 124G seems to be mechanically fine though the light meter is either broken or (more likely) needs a new battery. I still have a genuine battery in my other 124G so can test with that but may finally need to hunt down or make an adapter for more modern ones. It came with the bottom half of the case and the lens cap, no top half and no hood.

The Electro AX is M42 mount & I think needs the same battery at the 124G. Mechanically it seems fine and the shutter fires but probably just at 1/1000s without the battery. The lens seems OK, a bit of dust but no auto/manual switch to allow stopping down on digital. It's this one: https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/yashinon-ds-m-50mm-f1-4.html

Anyway, I think even if the light meters are dead I got quite a bargain with both of these. They had a little Minolta rangefinder too but I had no more cash on me.
