Thanks, but the review on that page says it charges the battery, and the Q&A says it doesn't.

is that just for macro photography or is it helpful in general?
Better suited to macro as it only covers the central part of the viewfinder where the split image/microprism is on old film cameras. I think it is a bit limited, but probably better with its 2x magnification than the new magnifying finder attachment (which is I think only about 1.18x).

My girlfriend - to be spouse - bought a 70's something Subaru (FWD, not AWD back then). It had an automatic. After we were married, we realized the Subie had a problem and we were better off to dump it and find something else. 'Something else' was a used 1976 Saab with a 4-speed manual transmission. While I loved that car, she only grudgingly learned to drive a stick. In fact the sales person booted me out of the car and took her over to an empty parking lot and taught her enough to go on a flat surface from a stop and shift from 1st to 2nd gear. He knew how to sell a car.

In hindsight, I wished I had taught her during our boyfriend/girlfriend stage to drive a stick when I had my early vintage, Honda Civic (bought used by trading even from a 3/4 ton pickup truck during the first gas crisis). You couldn't stall that car. The clutch had so much slip, that if you floored it, it took a whole block before the wheels caught up with the engine - and this was 'normal' for a Civic! Part of the reason I didn't teach her is because the car also had a manual choke. I would have had to teach her how to start the engine too.

I think she was quietly delighted when we reached the point that both of our cars had automatic transmissions.
My first car had one of those. Start was easy. Running hot, easy. Very bothersome in between. Had to set the choke just right to go round corners.

I was going to ask a similar question, and here I get the answer. Very helpful.

My latest acquisition was a Pentax 12-24 lens which is great BUT I have to STOP buying camera gear!! I am running out of table space

looks like you have plenty of room, especially if you clear the table of the non camera gear

the two binoculars are taking up valuable space

[ not to mention the non Pentax gear, you have to put the important stuff - Pentax and stuff which can be used with the Pentax first ]

A nice little Russian rangefinder lens arrived with me yesterday... an Orion-15 28mm f/6, in lovely condition.

The focusing helicoid was dry, almost to the point of seizing, so I gave it a clean and re-lubrication earlier today. It's working properly now, and taking very fine photos. An amazing little lens if the f/6 - 22 aperture range suits your photography

I loved that boxy thing.
Me too. The Trooper was very basic, which appeals to me more and more. I'd buy another for my next used car,
if I could find one without a million miles on the clock. Also I'm not sure about the spare parts supply situation.

the little saturns were great cars...we were disappointed when GM gave up on the concept
Towards the end Saturn lost focus of its mission, thanks to usual GM marketing.
We had two. I liked the 1992 SL1 better than the 2000 SL1, also bought new.
Both held up very well despite my wife's neglect and downright abuse.
I suspect a lot of things learned from Saturn goes into current small GMs.

I guess you're referring to the gorgeous lens cap and the rabbit vase? They are quite nice.

yes it does. It was pretty bunged up when I got it. He didn't just pretty it up - works now too.
