I'm glad to see you got the lens as well. I took the Super Program out Friday night in the French Quarter and shot a roll of Tri-X 400 with the A50/1.4 and another roll of the same film with my Nikkor 105/2.5. I'm sending them out to be developed Friday.

Cheap snap of cheap porn ... an excellent AE-1 + SSC 50/1.4 + flash for 7€ (on side on prism) at my thrift store. I had to fix the typical Canon "squeak" and de-oil the aperture on the 50mm (it was stuck wide open) ... plus clean the contacts of the flash. After all that, all works perfectly and I am going to run a roll of film through it soon ... xpost

Another cheap snap of yard sale porn ... for 12€ (asking price was 25€, but then I pointed out the fungus farm), thus there's a bunch of fungus to clean out, so here's another rainy day project ... a Tamron 500/8 with Olympus OM mount and caps plus other junk ...

I have recently bought a second Ricoh XR-X (actually my first one is marked as an XR-M but it's the same camera for different markets), a little-known but capable 80s camera which was Ricoh's top of the line in it's day. It came with a couple of cheap zooms that I need to sell off, though the Ricoh kit 35-70mm isn't bad once stopped down to f/5.6. The battery compartment, which is detaches to insert/remove four AAs, is damaged from a battery leak - one of the connecting wires is corroded through - but this should be very easy to replace. I dry-fired the camera to test it with my other battery pack and it works fine.

I also just ordered an M series 120mm f/2.8, my first non-bargain lens for quite a while. I'm hoping it will arrive in time for my trip to Japan in ten days but I won't hold my breath.

I'm also quite pleased that yesterday I sold the last of the lenses (a mint K 50/1.4) that came with the K2 DMD I bought a few months back for a price that means I got the DMD for free

Coincidentally I just purchased my first GDR camera, a Praktica B200 SLR with lens.
I hope it's better quality than the Zorki I once owned...

As a long time Practica (and the earlier Praktikas!) user (and I still have a MTL5, BX10 and BX20 in the cupboard) I don't think you need to worry very much - they go on and on in my experience, albeit sometimes rather noisily because of the mirrors!

Also, I think I bought a B100 or B200 for work in the late 1970s and that never let us down.

OTOH, you need to be selective about lenses: try to get "genuine" East German Zeiss lenses (and not the later "Zeiss-branded" Japanese versions - mainly from Sigma IIRC and not very good, although the actual Sigma-branded ones aren't at all that bad).

BTW: just in the process of acquiring a (reputedly) very low shutter count K3-II at a reasonable price from another member of the UK Forum - should be here in a few days!

Got my first radioactive lens!

So, I went to the local camera shop, and I picked up a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 1:1.4/50 with a SP 1000 attached

Nice And good to hear you bought it from a local camera shop. Heaven knows they have a tough time these days, what with all the online competition. Usually a little more expensive, but nice to get face-to-face service and actually see the equipment before you part with your money. In this case, well worth it, it seems - that's a fine looking combo!

Well the combo cost ~$120.00 USD, so considering the prices the Takumars alone fetch, it seems pretty reasonable.

That is indeed reasonable, especially considering the condition, which looks to be excellent! I'd certainly part with that kind of money for such a nice rig. Great find - well done!
