It was hard going almost two days without a 35mm lens to fit that new camera!

Bergger Panchro 400 film is finally in stock at Freestyle so I bought three rolls.
I also ordered two rolls of Ilford XP2 for my daughter and a three pack of Kodak Ultramax 400.

She wants to try BW with her Olympus Trip 35. Once she sees some prints she might catch the bug.
Preparing to move I have no darkroom now, but I did find a half dozen A&I prepaid C-41 mailers.

Am I the only one buying, or the only one admitting it?

My "new" K-3 II arrived a couple of days ago, and the seller had correctly identified the shutter count as being very low (less than 3000) - also in virtually (if not completely) "as new" general and external condition (except for obvious customization in the menus).

Less than 6 months from original sale, and "only" about 2/3rds cost of a brand new one today (in the UK).

Seems to work fine, but I still need to check out whether it has the same front/back focus issues that my s/h K-3 had when it arrived, and to get to grips with the different ways in which the menus work in some areas.

Nice buy. I want a second body. What were the issues with the K3?

Could not get accurate focusing with 3x Sigma Long lenses - 70-200, 100-300 & 150-500 HSM OS - but it was only after the 100-300 was mended by Sigma Imaging UK and their supervisor kindly checked the body with that lens that it became clear that the problem was the body. That then had to go back to Johnsons for recal and since then it's been pretty good, but I was hankering after the K-3 II because of the better AF algorithms for burst shooting at airshows and so on, and so more or less jumped at the chance of the nearly new on I just bought.

Edited: just done some back/front focus checks with the K-3 II and the 100-300 & 150-500 Sigmas (with a metal rule about 12m away down the garden) and could not see any signs of those problems - and the autofocus "snap" with the 100-300 is almost instantaneous, and seems better than with the K-3 (although I did not do a direct comparison).

PS: there is another K-3 II advertised for £550 on ebay but likely to be less if you buy it directly from the guy who has advertised on here on the UK forum: https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/fs--k-3-ii---lenses-58851 (and another one with a higher shutter count at just under £500 as well)

Bought this for my wife's use on her K-50 or K-70 and initial trial with continuous or flash lighting shows it a bargain at 1/10th the cost of the Pentax ringlight.

Cheers for the info and the link. Very tempted by that.

My latest acquisition is a Tamron 70-200/2.8 from a fellow member, to replace the M 75-150/4 when fast aperture is needed.... most of the time then

Now, i can start to unload some lens not needed anymore

I have two M 75-150/4 lenses but never used one in anger on DSLR. I have used them for film mostly but haven't enlarged the negatives yet so don't know! Surely the Tamron is much superior or not?

I recently bought a bunch of bits & pieces to put together a macro set-up. The main purchases of the batch are a Ricoh Rikenon P 28mm f/2.8 Wide Angle Lens (not yet arrived) and a Pentax Auto Bellows K which arrived today. I can't wait to mount the bellows tomorrow, and maybe the 28/2.8 will arrive too.

There are several Pentaxians, including myself, that have worked with bellows and a variety of lenses for over life-size macro. Post questions if any arise and you'll get more answers than you'll want to read.

The 75-150 is a very good performer, and despite owning the Tamy, i will keep it and use it.

The 75-150 has a very subtle softness wide open while having a lot of micro-contrast, making it perfect for portraits : sharp eyes, skin is a little softened, hair and such are quite well rendered.
Stop it a stop and it's very sharp, has good micro-contrast, good contrast but not too much, making it a very good lens if you plan on editing all the picture or footage because you have a lot of latitude when it come to saturation / desaturation, sharp /soft, etc.
Colors rendering is very constitent with the more modern high end lens, like the DA*, DA ltd, FA ltd, which makes the editing easier.
Only complain : it's not a A lens
It's light and small which is great to make a smaller kit.

The Tamron is like the M75-150 : a little soft wide open, sharpen a lot at f3.2, is plenty sharp at 3.5.
Besides that, i can't tell much, i havent used it really since i received the lens.

You should try the 75-150 on DSLR, is quite nice to use !
