On things seen while fishing - and Priorities:

Some years ago I was standing ankle deep on a gravel base, roll casting wets with two droppers to the edge of the drop off into a hole, sheltered behind an overhanging limb. This was a favorite, prime spot to draw large browns. Just downstream, behind the limb, some camping novice had pulled a canoe up on the associated gravel bar and pitched a tent. Shortly, a young woman emerged from the tent au natural, splashed around in a bit, turned toward me, shrieked and ran back to the tent.

Ruined the fishing for an hour.
mine went the other way

I had bicycled in to the forest
forded the river and chained my bike to a tree

went a half mile upstream with the intention of working back downstream
halfway back I worked my way onto a boulder and began casting to some little cuts in the pool below
a big brown took my fly
in surprise I pulled too hard
off balance i fell off the boulder and into the pool
it was a hell of lot deeper than i'd imagined and I got to have one of those oh crap! moments
I wasn't wearing a belt on my waders so I sank pretty quickly
when my feet hit the streambed I ran not walked as fast as i could
when my head poked out I caught some air and surprisingly found I still had my rod and a fourteen inch brown trout
I released the fish
then I trudged to shore
found some sun and pretty much got naked

with the dry mountain air and the sun I was almost dry when the prettiest park ranger i'd ever met came upon me
she didn't miss a beat...may I see your license?...is that your bike back there?... you know these waters are catch and release?... where are your clothes?

I swear I could hear her laughing for next twenty minutes

Neat tale. Pity about the catch and release rule!

Oh no, I must disagree.

It enhanced your day. At least it would have made mine. I've many an accidental peek over the years, each one a reminder of the beauty of the fairer gender.

And many were acknowledged by the lady with a smile, and then me politely turning away.

And for the past twenty years they have served to remind me that the most beautiful of their gender awaits at home, the lovely Mrs. Racer.

I suppose, but haven't kept more than a dozen fish since 1975...I practice the art of torment and release...I call myself the Torquemada of angling

the good thing is I didn't drown, which is how I thought this adventure would end
nor did I contract giardia from the water I inhaled
though swallowing is likely the more common method of infection

Bare in the Woods
more like the unusual sighting of a beached whale
I haven't taken my clothes off near water for a long time for fear passerbys would try to push me back into the water

Waders can be lethal. Good thing you had your wits about you.

Bought a spyder 24 colour chart. I'm shooting more studio w 2 bodies and different lenses, I've already colour corrected monitors and printer so getting lens/body profiles for my various used combinations will make for a much better workflow with consistency. It will be good for shooting matched video as well

I suppose my latest acquisition would be the coho salmon I reeled in Friday (my first from the kayak). Hooked 4 decent ones, 3 of which escaped the hook. :/ The one that made it into the net was grilled into a delicious dinner that very evening. Mmmmmmmm tasty!

That I have tried. I would not recommend it

That, though, is not my latest acquisition - got it in 2003, and this last year or so my digestive system is finally back to normal (more or less).

The latest is an Olympus TG-4 take-anywhere-camera. Was not looking for a WG-5, but they have suddenly disappeared from all the shops here. The little Oly does a decent job, though. And it really does surprisingly well with macros and in-camera focus stacking.

Here's the underside of a leaf.

...and the head of a match.

oh well.... bought Sigma 35 ART. While cleaning my 67II and GR from travel, figure I will take a photo of them.
"One camera to rule them all" is what's come to my mind. As tiny as Ricoh GR1v... Ricoh now own PENTAX that made K1000, LX, 67, 67II, 645N.

Sad if when you think of it, but glad Ricoh bring us K1. Let's hope Ricoh/PENTAX continue to make great cameras for all to enjoy.

A bar of chocolate...

5 kilos of 53.8% cocoa solids Belgian chocolate. Drool...

Slightly past its sell by date, so a LOT cheaper than it should be. Not actually for me, I have friends who like to cook. Hopefully I'll get a cookie or something...
