My latest acquisition is 2 SMU's! My girlfriend came back from a trip yesterday and about an hour ago she pulled out of her purse and handed me two thin mints. I couldn't wait to photograph them with my last acquisition from 2 days ago, a Mamiya Sekor 55mm 1.4. So here they are in all their glory. You can see they are exactly 2 smu's tall.
ACTUAL dimensions please (photographic evidence can be "manipulated" and so they could be anything from 3mm to "whatever"!)?

Well these came from the Olive Garden unless the wrapping is a forgery and not International Bureau of Weights and Measures. I also used a small extension tube to make them appear bigger than they are. But before I will let anyone verify the dimensions of these SMU's I will eat them!

Heh. Judges' Ruling - duly accepted. For future reference, an SMU is not a thin mint. An SMU is a ThinMint Girl Scout Cookie

if available, other wise a similar shaped/sized thin mint cookie is acceptable

a rectangular or square shaped thin mint is not.

these are not thin mint girl scout cookies but are the same shape/size

i'm wondering about the 28mm f1.8 from Sigma. Would you mind gives us a little review ? I've seen mixed reviews, and i'm wondering how it perform on actual camera.

I'm still hesistating on buying it

sure - very briefly:

a bit heavy/large, but I am comfortable with it on the K-3 or K-50 (it is NOT a DA40 Limited)

color saturation is accurate

sharp and crisp - mine does not seem to suffer from any decentering that I have noticed

AF is quick in most light; it does hunt a bit when you start losing the light, but I have found that the manual focusing is much better than most modern lenses - the focusing ring has more damping than I expected and is more tactile than many of the modern Pentax DA lenses - this is not an HSM lens, so you'll have the screwdrive focusing noise, but I don't find it intrusive

bokeh is quite nice and doesn't seem harsh or distracting

my album so far:

Sigma 28mm f1.8 EX DG | Flickr

my copy is a refurb by Sigma, purchased from Adorama...

I have the 24mm F/1.8, and if the two are anything alike the 28mm will be dynamite. The 24mm has become my favorite lens for 35mm/APS-C photography.

A Hoya 77mm CIR-PL. I've been led to believe that I need one. I've never owned one and never used one. My son and I are heading to Utah 9-23 September to cover all 5 NPS (we hope). Now all I have to do is learn how it actually works, and to see if we actually need it. We both shoot Pentax. I shoot K20D and he shoots K-50.

I believe it screws on the open end of the lens

the end opposite where you attach the DSLR

beyond that, you need to ask someone else how they work

enjoy the NPs
