Pentax 645 135mm LS

Just won Pentax 645 135mm LS leaf shutter lens on eBay for only $220 plus shipping. I've been wanting this lens for a while, but not at $500+. More comments when it arrives.

Thank you. I thought so as well since most of these nowadays seem to be listed for $500-600 each. Here is the seller's description:

"The lens is in great shape with absolutely minimal internal dust and no scratches on the front or rear optics. No fog, haze or element separation. Shutter speeds are good and the PC sync port works perfectly to trigger strobes. The lens terminals that tell the camera to go into LS mode also work perfectly on this lens, which is quite rare on the used market.

Please review the photos to judge the cosmetic condition of this lens for yourself."

Hoping for the best!

Just picked up the 645 FA 200mm f 4.0 on eBay for $206.00 and free freight, including caps, hood, and UV filter. I already have the A version of this lens, but Pentax Forum reviews rates the FA version much higher than the A version for some reason--we'll see. Here is the seller's description:

"The lens has little wear with only slight scuffs on the barrel. The glass is in perfect condition with no dust, scratches, haze, or fungus of any kind and the coating is intact. The lens auto focus system works perfectly in its smoothness and speed. Included with the lens are both end caps with a tether on the front cap, lens hood and UV filter. The overall appearance and functionality are excellent. Please refer to the photographs on this listing for specifics."

I think this will be a great bargain if it is as nice as described, but then you never know until you know for sure!

since my current lens is roughly 2009 vintage (0011208) I hope to determine whether the meme about the early glass and coatings has any merit. I won’t keep 2 copies of the same lens though (also applies to a low serial 77 I recently stumbled across).

[EDIT:] The Eagle Has Landed.

Something that I know will probably be crappy before I even use it - a Holga 60mm f8 Lomography lens in Nikon fitting for £7.50. I arranged to buy it last week and collected it today, in the meantime I picked up a couple of very nice Nikon lenses over the weekend, but a deal is a deal and anyway I really want to see if I can find any merit in this thing and review it before I sell it on. Unfortunately the weather is dreadful so it may be a day or two before I can test it.

MINI Countryman 2012 S with 30k miles (was crashed not that bad sat quite a while) not fully loaded but very well equipped also significantly discounted. Yes, I had to put $2400 into it in the first month. My POS Mazda was totaled by a maniac that ran a red light by TEN seconds. Double impact her car into my my side then straight into the guardrail dead stop head on. I mostly remember blackness and someone saying "level 3 trauma".

Finally a medium format camera that uses current film...

I just received a Yashica-A TLR that I won on eBay. Seems to be in good working shape, has original lens cover, and most importantly, uses 120 film, not 620.

So now I have a workable budget medium-format camera.

(I have a 620 TLR, and a 620 box camera, but those don't count, because 620).

I have a new acquisition coming next week - an " experienced " prime lens found in the Market Place

Kino Precision Japan Kiron 28mm F2 PKA

https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/kiron-28mm-f2-mc.html

" . . . used in good condition. Lens was CLA'd by Brian (dcshooter). There is a very small almost unnoticeable spot of fungus on the very outer edge of the front element . . . "

the seller has agreed to accept a return should I decide that the fungus will be a problem or if there are any other problems

I have had such good experiences with those I have dealt with in the Market Place.

this will fit nicely with my other primes:

SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS

smc Pentax-DA 1.8 50 mm prime

smc Pentax-D FA 2.8 100 mm macro prime

and give me a faster option than the HD Pentax DA 3.5-5.6 16 - 85 mm wr zoom

currently I use a K 3 or a K 5 II but should I move to the K 1, this should be a full frame lens suitable for that camera body

Just bought a couple of Fotga variable ND filters (in 52mm and 67mm) on an auction site for about $7. A variable ND filter would not have been on my shopping list as I consider a fixed value ND filter to be much better. At this price I could not resist.
.
One small problem. I only have one lens in 52mm filter size (Pentax M 200mm f/4) and none in 67mm. I do have a whole bunch of lenses in 49mm and a Takumar 35mm f/2.3 in 67mm. So I bought a 49-52 stepping ring, as well as a 62-67. That came to $12, more than the actual filters but those are the breaks.

I also bagged a lens on an auction for half a dollar. It was described as a telephoto but the focal length was not stated and it was not visible in the pictures. The brand is totally unknown. Searching for it on the webs brought up almost nothing. All I know is that it has a maximum aperture of f/2.8, so it is probably a 105mm or 135mm. The mount was also not listed but the lens sure looks like an M42 one. There was no time to ask the seller before the auction closed, so it will be a surprise when it arrives. If it is not M42 I can always take it apart for giggles.

Now waiting for delivery of all the items.

I just picked up a battery-powered slide / 35mm film strip viewer.
