Vivitar V3800N camera

I was curious. This is my first Voigtlander-era Cosina SLR.
If it's 2/3 as good as my CV Bessa cameras it will be fine.

No. Not really any off hand ... sorry, never came across this before.

All lens and camera contacts clean and un-corroded ... ? Good luck, J

I get a 10¢ an hour cost of living raise starting today.

Collective bargaining has its merits.

That is 10 cents an hour more that I got in all of my last 12 years with Kodak. I do know one guy who got a $60 a year raise to make him even with everyone else.

My wife is getting me a pan and tilt head for Christmas this year. Whoever invented the ball head should be sent to the Pit of Misery. Dilly dilly.

The ten pennies an hour add up to $208 a year, not counting overtime.

My new Scanpan frying pan just arrived. 1730 on a Sunday late afternoon, after it has been dark for over an hour. Needed to replace the old traditional style non-stick pan, the coating was looking a bit burned. The new one uses a ceramic non-stick coating. Only ordered it on Saturday morning, about 0830. The other product I bought from the same maker shipped separately and will follow. Not bad for clicking on the 'eligible for free shipping' without paying extra for next day delivery! The option that promises it will arrive when they get around to it.

I had to look this brand up - I had a vision of some sort of imaging device on the pan, connected by WiFi, that tells you when your food is ready to turn.

Seriously, though - your post has given me an great option to replace a couple of my "no-stick" pans of French manufacture. The Scanpan line seems very well made.

A Samsung Evo 850 480GB ssd for my main 4yr old Samsung V355 Amd A8 4-core laptop as a Birthday present. Unfortunately, trying to clone the OS to the new ssd went totally wrong and blitzed the OS completely , and it took me over a week to recover and get the OS reinstalled (courtesy of the MS and Samsung phone support lines ).

However, now it IS working again, it's one hell of a lot faster than it was before - cost was around £220/$300 US as against around £500/$650 US for an equivalent new laptop.

OTOH, it took a lot of stress and some loss of important data to get where I am now.

Today's find was a naff-looking VLC Praktica I nearly passed by. Fortunately I took a closer look and realised that the lens was an SMC Takumar 55mm f2 with the fittings for the Spotmatic F open-aperture metering system. Slight dent in the filter ring otherwise good condition, mine for a fiver. Also got an USB Apple keyboard with special keys for the Final Cut video editing suite. For £3!

Pentax K-1, tampered glass screen protector for it, sigma art 35, usb dock for sigma, Marumi filter for sigma. All in one lot from a Nikon shooter who wanted to give Pentax a spin but couldn’t keep both systems. Only 3000 clicks on the gear.

We have had one of their 28cm woks for nearly a year. Going a beauty with almost daily use, often more than once per day. Slight scratching of the surface but because of the kind of surface that is not dangerous and does not impair the non-stickness. The other thing I bought was the 38cm wok, because we need a bigger one, in addition.

That looks nice. I think this SLR is still made and available new, sold under various brands and possibly also with a Minolta SR mount. I've never used one but with modern electronic components I think they should be very capable.

I doubt it is still made. If anything, there might be some new-old stock still around.

A retired prof was giving away a "Pentax 135" lens. No photos or details provided. Can't go wrong with a free lens, so ended up picking up a 135 f3.5 Takumar with a broken aperture but otherwise in a great shape, as well as a Jupiter 11 (135mm f4) in a very good shape. Glass of both lenses is spotless. I also got a Pentax shutter release cable as a bonus. Nice one. I bought a no name one last year and it is terrible.

The Jupiter 11 is a nice lens, amazing bokeh. Congratulations!

My parcels from Oxfam turned up - the 100-300mm Canon-fit Cosina I mentioned, a no-name M42 x2 teleconverter, and a x2 Auto-Teleplus converter for the old Exakta Varex system - I may keep the Cosina, haven't yet decided, the others are headed for eBay. I got out too late to take trial photos today, hoping to do it tomorrow.
