Someone had to be "the one". I'd been looking for over a year for the 49mm version of the S25. It will find much use attached to my F 50/1.7 once springtime sweeps in.

I’d have to look, but I’m pretty sure I have all those filters in either 52mm or 49mm (I think the Mor & Eve and Magic Color were only 49mm and probably Ghostless).

Very nice, Carol! Goodness, it really is mint!

Actually, it looks a lot more manageable than I'd expected... Is that a hood on the front, or is it part of the lens body?

Mike that's a hood that simply slides back and forth. It's definitely in mint condition, not a mark anywhere. Even the box looks brand new!

I had the 300 f4 Sigma APO macro that was issued at the same time as that 400 f5.6. The slide forward hood is really convenient. Such hoods should be required by law on all SFL lenses of 100mm and longer. The Sigma hood didn't slide as easily/smoothly as the beautifully made one on a Pentax SMCA 400 f5.6 I had for a while. The grippy rubber coating on the SIgma lenses causes the hood to stick a bit, and that coating is a bit vulnerable to being scraped off if you're careless carrying the lens (did you guess that I marred that coating on my 300mm f4?). One of the nicest slide-forward hood designs I've encountered is on the Pentax FA 135mm f2.8. It moves very smoothly and also disappears within the outer part of the lens when retracted. Really nice design.

If that's the one you described as "experienced", Allen, it looks like it was very well looked after! Enjoy - it's a superb lens

I particularly like the slide out hood on my M 400/5.6 with the "gun sight" on top for quick target acquisition.

yeah, I sent a PM " complaining " telling the seller that he had a misleading listing

darn if I can see the faults he pointed out:

" 21/3.2, , . . Some minor wear on focus ring and lens cap "

I was kidding of course

so far, I am very happy

I'll take that kind of seller any day of the week. Nice when something turns out to be in better condition than expected
