Nice! the newer intuos tablets don't have the user programmable LCDs next to the function buttons, which IMO is a bit of a design blooper from wacom.
I still have my Intuos 4 I initially reviewed on here. It has done a lot of work.
And my latest acquisition:
A new pair of Hybrid In Ear Monitors - the Oriveti Primacy MkII
2 balanced armatures. 1 for the High end, 1 for Mid frequencies and one 8.8mm dynamic driver for Bass - I have either had pure dynamic driver headphones or pure BA IEMs, this is the first time I have ever bought an IEM with both driver types in it*. I got them online on sale for about $270AUD, which is a loss I could easily afford.
Historically, low-end cheap and Mid-Fi IEMS like these have been horribly marred by disastrous crossover issues, long term problems with the reliability of the cable connections - however as other reviewers and I have discovered, these suffer from none of these problems: which is remarkable considering the price point. I have no regrets getting them, they have more "kick" to them than pure BA IEMS due to the fact that the dynamic driver can move more air than any armature can alone. They have clearer vocals and improved high end** due to the use of a BA drivers. Most BA IEMs have multiple armatures dedicated to bass frequencies*** to make up for this shortcoming, so the Oriveti Primacy can equal IEMS that cost many times more.
The braided MMCX cable is a thing of beauty, and it can be swapped out with other MMCX cables which means I don't have to throw them away if the cable breaks.
* I have reviewed the Campfire audio Polaris IEM - which are similar to these albeit
considerably more expensive and sonically less compelling.
** Though on these IEMs the extreme high end is
somewhat subdued - which is better than having a searingly bright high-end IMO.
*** The upshot of this is that using multiple drivers lowers distortion, the drawback: is that doing this drives the impedance of the IEMs through the roof. The Oriveti Primacy are 8.7 Ohm, which puts them on the sensitive side. You won't need much amp power to get decent volume out of them.
