Ten MR9/PX625 adapters

These allow use of inexpensive 675 zinc-air hearing aid batteries
to power cameras which were designed to use 1.35V mercury cells.

I remember when that lens was introduced. It was innovative and when tested by the photomags regarded as very good to excellent in the close-focus range, although a notch below the best SFL macros, and not quite as good for non-macro use as the ubiquitous 70~200(210)mm f4 or f2.8 lenses. As I recall, there were no 180mm or 200mm SFL macros on the market, so the 180mm max length of the Vivitar was thought to be a great boon for insect photography. Some time later Nikon introduced an EDIF AF 70~180mm f4 micro, SFAIK the only other zoom lens in that focal length range specifically designed to be used as a macro lens, and not for general purpose photography, but nevertheless usable for that purpose. 50 Euros sounds like a bargain price. The Nikon micro zoom goes for around $1000 USD.

Set of 7 Dalstrong high carbon German steel chef knives and a new steel, my first new knives since our wedding set 37 years ago. Not the usual, expected Henckels or Wusthof with molded handles, not the professional Messermeister or MAC or Shun knives people with more money than sense buy, but excellent, classic knives nonetheless at a better price than the big boys.

Sort of like a Pentax - all about the grip, durability, balance and edge, less about light weight and shiny bells and whistles like totally rust-free stainless steel. Rockwell 55, not 58. You actually have to care for the knives and have cutting, honing and whetstone sharpening technique - you can’t just dump them in the dishwasher and expect them to stay spotless.

There's also the Tamron SP 70-210mm F/3.5-4 52A and the Konica UC 80-200mm F/4 Zoom-Hexanon (I couldn't find much info on that one).

There is one more, the Tamron SP 60-300mm, that goes even further, with a reproduction ratio of 1:1.55, if I remember correctly.
I owned the first version of the old Tamron, bought it short time after it was introduced. Great zoom for its time, still pretty good today. I feel a little sorry I don't have it anymore, cause the first all-metal, square-shaped version is the best built.
I still have the Vivitar Flat Field and the Tamron 60-300mm. The latter is one of the best wide range MF zooms ever for general use, but my impression is that the Vivitar excels at close range, compared to both Tamrons.
I have a few outstanding pictures taken at MFD. For such an old zoom the quality is really impressive. A real pity I own the M42 version, I'd be happier with PK mount.

I wanted the Vivitar cause it's historically relevant, but I found it's still good for practical use.
Paid it much more than you did. It's not very common, especially in M42 and PK mounts, and the price is usually around four or five times what you paid. Good find!

I recently inherited some knives, Wusthof & Hoffritz, and they are far superior to the serrated-edge, grocery store blades given us as a wedding present 49 years ago that I must use, because they were a wedding present from in laws. My son cooks for a living, and he thinks well of Hoffritz, but his favorite brands are Chicago Cutlery and most especially, Lamson. He also has a Japanese-made cleaver/chopper, looks almost like a tourist piece, but it is really a scalpel-sharp blade that will shorten your fingers without you realizing it happened.

I always keep an eye on Pentax or M42 lenses sold on eBay by Japanese vendors.
I already have plenty of 135mm lenses, it's one of my favourite focals, so I really didn't need to buy another one, but this time the price was very enticing.
I couldn't resist and decided to pull the trigger
It's my first early Takumar, a beautiful black & chrome 3.5/135mm. Paid it 41 USD including shipment. BIN.
Japanese photographers like to pamper their lenses, and worn lenses are not desirable as collector items.
I guess this explains the cheap price.
This lens had the word "scratch" in capital in the title of the auction, but the scratches are only on the barrel, the glass seems to be very good.
I'll be fine with this "experienced" optic, I bough it for actual use, not just for collection.
