I owned the first version of the old Tamron, bought it short time after it was introduced. Great zoom for its time, still pretty good today. I feel a little sorry I don't have it anymore, cause the first all-metal, square-shaped version is the best built.
I still have the Vivitar Flat Field and the Tamron 60-300mm. The latter is one of the best wide range MF zooms ever for general use, but my impression is that the Vivitar excels at close range, compared to both Tamrons.
I have a few outstanding pictures taken at MFD. For such an old zoom the quality is really impressive. A real pity I own the M42 version, I'd be happier with PK mount.
I wanted the Vivitar cause it's historically relevant, but I found it's still good for practical use.
Paid it much more than you did. It's not very common, especially in M42 and PK mounts, and the price is usually around four or five times what you paid. Good find!
