Deservedly so, it's probably the best recording with video that can be found on youtube and not far off the best, e.g.:

Gergiev / Kirov Orchestra:

Fritz Reiner / Chicago SO:

Kirill Kondrashin / Concertgebouw:

Leopold Stokowski / London SO:

Thomas Beecham / Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

My Gergiev fandom started with the same video and I've grown quite fond of his interpretations of Strawinky & Shostakovich. Hence my elation about getting these seats:

Not a bad place to watch him work, I'd say.

Munich really got lucky, having Gergiev (Munich Philharmonic) and Mariss Jansons (BRSO) at the same time.
Not that I have too much reason to complain myself, Paavo Järvi is not exactly bad either, nor is the Chamber Philharmonic (though they are on tour a lot and Järvi spends a lot of time in Paris these days).
Also, Die Glocke is a rather pretty place (though not as pretty as this one):

Got an AF-330 FTZ at the thrift store for $5. It seems to work fine but I guess I need to learn how to use it, I can't seem to find any info on it in the database here...

T

The FTZ series of strobes has a TTL system that is NOT compatible with modern Pentax DSLRs (= P-TTL system). So unless you are using a Pentax film camera, you will have to use it in manual mode as it does have variable manual output. SFAIK it does not have a thyristor auto-exposure system.

I suspect it was Dave! You keep putting up nice images, many of them with food in them and expect us not to drool over a 35mm macro? Ha! I scoff at your false modesty!

I think this one is a textbook case of how not to write an eBay listing.

The title was "Numerous lenses mainly for PENTAX also 2 pentax cameras will throw in", illustrated by several picture of some no name crappy zoom. But if you scrolled past the first few photos the other items turned out to be an MZ-30 and a 1stD, both with real Pentax lenses.

And to make quite sure that the final price would be low, it ended at 6.17 AM

And I'm very pleased to say I won it for £27 inc P&P.

Fingers VERY firmly crossed that I will end up with some working equipment - I could really use a Pentax digital body to test the lenses I sell.

Still it could be worse.... I think
It could indeed be worse - in recent weeks I've had two root canals and am having a third, older one, re-done as it was badly done originally and was infected. Next week two implants go in for teeth I've been missing for years.

So yes - you could be worse

Way behind, so time to catch up ... and to boost the post count, too, for the raffle.

5€ for my thrift store ... a Tektronic C4 CRT camera, but no hood. Shoots Polaroid 600 film and has a Tominon (Tomioka) 105/4.5 lens which works great. Shutter is triggered by the pistol grip. I may get some film and have a bit of fun ... otherwise I may pull the lens out and mount it to a macro bellows. I placed my eye within the back of the camera to look at the image and it's super sharp at an macro range. Should be fun.

More stickers for same seller off Le Bon Coin site ... I splurged for 16€ delivered. The 135 roll is for scale ... and there are two identical, both like new.

Another thrift store find ... a Manfrotto 718B for 5€. Luckily I had a spare quick release plate at the house, but one for the leg clamps is split and won't thus lock tight ... and another one is badly cracked to split later. Still can be used at about 5+ feet height.

Maybe the best for last ... both for 20€ plus 5€ delivery off the French Le Bon Coin site ... both have fungus and I have already torn down the 55/1.4 for a clean and lube. I may go in again because I am not quite happy with the diaphragm movement. Also I have rendered the 55/1.4 fully manual via the hollow Q-tip tube trick and using a flanged M42-to-K-mount adapter for the moment. A few test shots and the wide open center sharpness of the 55/1.4 is really great ... quite a happy camper. I will fix the 55/1.8 and give it a try ... I may later sell it or trade it away at a photo swap meet.
