trying out a new tripod, I wanted to see if I wanted a carbon fiber one

Manfrotto 290xtra carbon fiber [ legs only ]

https://www.manfrotto.us/290-xtra-three-section-carbon-fiber-tripod

years ago I got a credit card from Cabela's which gives me points toward purchases

Cabela's Official Website - Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Shooting & Outdoor Gear : Cabela's

over the years I have gotten numerous " free " products and this time, I " saved " about 3/4 the cost of the tripod

After starting a thread on this forum asking what DSLR I should get, I got a lot of responses saying a K-5 would work well. (Thread: What's a decent budget DSLR for a newbie? - Page 8 - PentaxForums.com)

And 11 days later, I've got my new K-5!

Glad I asked for advice, it's a fantastic camera!
Still learning how to use it, so any advice is welcomed!

Looks to be in great condition too. Can't wait to see what lens you get. See if you can find a Miranda/cosina 24mm f2.8. It is a ka mount and renders slightly warm but I LOVE it. If you fancy cheap AF, the kit wr 18-55mm is good for the price and gives you a rainy day set up, and if you want a cheap AF prime try the smc da 35mm f2.4. Its a bit plastic but its really good. I will stop there before I start listing

Yeah, it only had about 6000 shutter actuations!
I Have 6 lenses from my K1000 which I plan to use, but I'd like to get a WR lens sometime!
Thanks for the suggestions!

Joanne's (craft store) had 50% off their stock of frames, so I bought 9 frames and saved $109 on the purchased.... then ordered some large prints from Mpix.com to fill 'em....
I really need to order some prints and swap around some photos at home to display some newer ones.

I haven't used one but from the response of people who have I think the K-5 was Pentax's first really great DSLR. Sometimes I consider getting one for the reputed superior image quality (especially in low light) over the K-3. I'm sure you'll enjoy using it.

Golf shirts

Walmart had their size 2X white short-sleeved golf style shirts on late summer clearance for $1.00 each, so I grabbed five of them.

If you're after a WR zoom you can't go far wrong with the 16-85

The 16-85 looks really nice, but it's a bit pricey for me.
I think the 18-55 or 18-50 would work a bit better for me.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I have owned a couple of the 18-55's and the DAL version of the 18-50. I also own the DA 18-135. Of the three I like the 18-135 the best and the 18-50 the next and then the 18-55's. But all will serve as good options. The 18-135 is a special lens in that it has a large range and not a lot of compromises from about 18-70 and then above 70 it has some falloff on the corners but most telephoto shots can stand that loss easily.
