Before you take it apart you could try to charge the battery.
The battery pack can be charged by connecting the camera to a computer using
a micro USB cable.
Is this the model? Sony DSC-WX300.
Thanks!

I've had it charging for over a hour -- the little front-light does glow when plugged in but the battery's voltage has not increased at all.

It's a DSC-WX350.

Purchased a monitor... Dell P2418D. Will let you know how good it is when it arrives.

Did plenty of research/reviews before I went for this one. I have a P2416D at work and I like it. Figured the 18D will be ok to go with. Bottom line is, it's affordable, should have great colours and it's beautiful to look at . The other option was BenQ BL2420PT - same price and comes with 100% sRGB (vs Dell's 99%) but it's plain ugly

I used to have a 2K 27" imac and now I find that resolution on 27" laughable. It's magic on 23.8".

Not worth buying a battery off eBay or amazon?

I fear not. I've no confidence that the camera was functional before the camera was chucked in drawer, it's battery expired from neglect, and then the owner offered for a mere $0.50 at the garage sale.

I like a large sheet that I can label and draw where the screws come out of. Double sided sticky tape to keep the little buggers from moving around on the paper also helps.
