After a three month wait

I received my service records from Library and Archives Canada. I'm not sure what use they are to Commissionaires (I am employed by them as an RCMP Detention Guard), but they do prove my claim to be a veteran.

I just got a PK Russian this week!

But the real eye opener was the Mamiya/Sekor (pics to come - photo of the boxed Russian, yep, Mamiya/Sekor 55/1.8)

I remember that one being reviewed when new.

I've never seen a Minolta 50mm f/1.9 before. Mine is 50/1.7 and I know of the later 50/2 and 45/2 but never seen a 1.9.
It's a 55mm not a 50mm. I now own 2 copies of that lens being that I just purchased a 1st generation XG-1 also mounted with same lens. I'm just waiting for new purchase to reach my door. Pics will go up when it get's here.

Minolta XE from 1974:

AKA XE-1 and XE-7; near twin of Leica R3

Purchase n° 2 ... upon my return from the cash machine and after a bit of haggling, I snapped up the following for two 50 € bills ...

- a very nice working Mamiya M645 with Sekor C 80/2.8 ... the focus screen is badly smudged, but all else seems AOK ...
- a very nice, but shooting at default shutter speed of 1/500 (even with a new battery) a Bronica Zenza ETR with handle, a working, but dim AE finder and a Zenzanon MC 50/2.8 ...
- a very nice working Tower Type 3 (Sears !?) with FED (in Cyrillic) 50/3.5 (one that I had "reserved") ...
- a Leica IIIf (serial n° 6300xx = 1952) with an Industar (in Cyrillic) 50/3.5 ( the other that I had reserved) ...

I was really surprised that he came down a lot on the initial prices for the Tower and the Leica ... wow. But it was still not done, because from the bag that came the medium format gear, he took out another Leica after we had exchanged cash for gear and go figure I was short on cash for what he was asking and I had to go home to fix lunch and take Charlotte to a b-day party ... so, we agreed to "reserve" it until I could get back from my obligations ...
I sold my Bronica rig last year, now I have sellers remorse.

Another day of car boot sales with some unexpectedly good stuff

A Sigma 28-200 in Minolta AF mount - works well and pretty clean, hopefully will sell for a reasonable price - with caps and 72mm skylight
Another Pentax-A 1:4 70-210, in very nice condition and working well with caps and skylight
A Tamron Adaptall-2 teleconverter O1F, no rear cap but I ought to be able to kludge something
A Vivitar flash meter, not tested yet
A Hanimar 135/3.5 with M42 T2 mount
Fuji 55/2.2 in M42 mount
Tokina 28/2.8 in Canon FD MOUNT
Zeiss Flektagon 35/2.4, unfortunately aperture isn't working and needs a lot of cleaning
A Pixco Nikon F to Sony NEX adapter
An Optomax 300 5.5 in M42, works but needs a lot of cleaning
And a couple of lens caps and filters

Total spend £32 which I think is pretty good.

I washed out this weekend, but that's OK ... last weekend was not too bad overall.

And I would glad to help you out with this one ...

Oh, the Fuji is a very bokeh-able find, too.

Would anyone be brave/foolish enough to go out in public with one of those

I seem to recall stories of someone being shot while trying to use one (or a similar design of some other make) to take pictures across the Berlin Wall, but it's probably apocryphal.

Back in the 1960's they were all the rage. Focus, hold steady, shoot and all without a tripod.
