Three recent purchases, two of which have been tested. The giottos pro tripod with the benro ball head is fantastic. Really solid and well built. I would thoroughly recommend as it was half the price of a manfrotto. My HD DA 55-300mm ED WR is spectacular and seems to be even sharper than my DA-l

I am awaiting a manfrotto 3 way head that I got nearly new for £12. Tip:- get the fat fingers app. It searches for misspelled items. My manfrotto head was listed as a manfotto

Edit: its not as new but it is in very good condition so still a hell of a bargain

In the mail:

Unmarked ME-F + SMC Pentax AF ZOOM 1:2.8 35~70mm (AF35~70/2.8) in working order, both recent CLA. Fun experiment to shoot a couple rolls with, then I’ll add to my office camera display shelf. It will be used now and then for lunchtime walks like the others kept at work and in place of my MESuper which Eric says is beyond repair. The ME-F + AF35~70/2.8 was the first mass produced autofocus SLR camera. 1981-1988.

K1000SE Brown MIJ (apparently a fairly rare combination - Hong Kong is more common). I’ve only just recently developed an interest in K1000’s. Got my first one over the summer.

A nice clean Sony Alpha A100 with an 18-70 lens. Don't know if it works yet, there's no battery charger, but I paid £45 with free P&P for it as untested, and I think it looks worth the gamble. The lens works anyway, I tested it on a 35mm Minolta body and AF etc. is fine. The charger is a fiver including postage, should get it by Saturday with luck. If this works it will be my fifth DSLR, which is a bit silly, but I'm definitely going to sell my Sigma in the new year, I just don't see enough Sigma gear to warrant keeping it. I use the Nikon, Canon, and Pentax enough to justify keeping them, hopefully this will apply to the Sony too, it's got to be a better way to test Minolta lenses than adapting them to my Canon, and if it's OK I will sell the Minolta to Canon adapter too.

One more car boot sale before Christmas, after that everything shuts down until mid-January, but I have enough stock to keep me busy.
I have a charger, and a working camera! Why the idiot who sold it didn't buy a charger and get £20-30 more for the camera is beyond me, but I'm not complaining...

A few new additions from me, now that the purchase of K1 has led to me updating my FF options:

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8: I used to have a Tokina ATX-Pro 28-70mm F26-2.8 back in my film days and regret selling it, however the Sigma was cheap used (£200) and has a usefully wider 24mm instead of 28mm. Not used the lens a huge amount yet but so far so good.

Sigma 14mm F2.8: I wanted something wider on FF that the Tokina ATX-Pro 20-35mm F2.8 and this was cheap used (as there is an issue with the AF on it). It is indeed very wide but very, very prone to flare and other optical abberations so not 100% sure about it yet.

Sigma 24mm F1.8: Now I'm back to FF I really, really regret selling the FA* 24mm F2 I used to have so wanted something fast in that focal length but without having to pay 3x what I sold the FA* for! Only just got this lens but so far it's looking good and could be one of my favourites.

Pentax FA 28-70mm F4: Bought this on Ebay for no other reason that it was cheap and I'd never had one before. I'd heard they can be decent performers and so far it seems a decent enough little lens.

Still got a few gaps to plug in the lens range (although I think I've got over 40 in K & M42 mount now). One of those is probably coming as a Christmas present, with the main gap now being a reasonably fast and long AF lens. Anything decent in KAF of 400mm or more doesn't appear to be cheap 2nd hand these days though!

New Arsat 300 f 3.5 fisheye

I pulled the trigger yesterday on a new (out of box) Arsat 30mm f 3.5 with filters, caps, and soft bag. This is the new multicoated version, so I will be placing my older single coated version up for sale soon. The seller says the lens was mounted on a Pentax 645N camera and claims the lens has a Pentax 645 mount, but I am expecting to receive a P6 mount with an attached P6-P645 adapter. I don't know that this lens was ever produced with a P645 mount, but the P6-P645 adapter is so thin that it is easily mistaken to be a part of the actual lens mount. It would be nice to be surprised with a Pentax P645 mount, but I do not expect it. Wondering if it will be ethical for me to request a discount since the mount was not accurately described?

TBH I’m actually a little perplexed myself. All my extra lenses and cameras are out and ready for the product shots. I go back and forth on APSc lenses. I want to keep the KP - but then the 3 pancakes are harder to sell so I put the KP on the sell list, but it always comes off again and so do the three silver HD DA pancakes. Vicious cycle.

I explained about the purchases.

Things will start moving (out, I hope) after the holidays. About 30 Cult Classic anual lenses, SMC DA Limiteds, new HD DFA 100 Macro WR, Contax and Nikon, K2 and some accessory dupes.

Jury is out on the m37 and m42 Cameras.

no pressure - considering your collecting/purchasing habits, it's unlikely that you're parting what I have the itch for, but who doesn't love surpises?

That looks like it could be pretty useful for some situations.

I like idiots, especially the ones who can't spell manfrotto 3 way head listed as manfotto so I got it for £12
