Still waiting for my Samyang 85mm f/1.4 in NX mount to arrive. At least the tracking web page shows progress. The parcel traveled around the USA for five days, then made its way to Germany where it spent two weeks. It arrived in South Africa two days ago. I suppose it got caught in the Christmas rush. It doesn't look like it will reach me before the new year. At least I saved $25 by choosing the economy delivery option. Sigh...

Pop the hood, shine the flashlight, and use the wrench equals open the bonnet, shine the torch, and use the spanner.

Wrench is an adjustable tool with teeth in the jaws, designed to bite onto round things like pipes.

I love how we use the English language:

boot sale

garage sale

yard sale

but no one reports buying boots, garages or yards at those events
Flea markets are very popular in the UK..........!

When my father worked for a steamship company, he'd sometimes complain that they couldn't get all the cargo aboard because the ship stretcher was broken.

Meanwhile in the world of cheap lenses I just did fairly well from the last lot of the year on ebay - four "faulty" lenses that looked OK in the pictures turned out to be a working Nikon 28-80 AF, two working Minolta AF 35-70s (one of which has a slight rattle, not sure why) which are fine on the Sony A100, and a very clean Pentacon 50/2 that won't stop down, total cost £16 including postage. No fungus etc. so far as I can tell, but I haven't done a really detailed examination yet.

I think that the definition of "faulty" here was "I can't test it" - this is, of course, the reason I have a LOT of camera bodies...

Now I seem to have a glut of Nikon short zooms - two 28-100, two 28-80, a 35-70 and a DX 18-55. All except the last are the older AF type with a motor in the camera. They'll sell, but I'll have to do it over several weeks to get the best money.

When I was a pipeline welder's helper fifty years ago, my welder sent me to the welder foreman to get a pipe stretcher and an air suspension hook. The welder foreman sent me back to my welder with the message that he was supposed to have all that stuff on his welding rig/truck, and if he wasn't set up with the right tools to work, he might as well just quit and drag up (pipeliner's term for leaving a job). The welder cussed a blue streak up and down and made up some message for me to take back to the welder foreman, but by then I was catching on.

NIB/NOS Bottom Half Case untouched, in OEM packaging with plastic and paper instructions, for the recently acquired ME-F. $10, shipped. Like the old days of eBay. Where on earth has this been for forty years?
