Just a question, not a criticism, but why did you leave Win 7? I'm using Win 7 Pro in a virtual machine on my MacBook Air.
"Good question".

Here's the situation:

- 2 years ago we had 5x machines running a mixture of 7 Home (2x - SWMBO's Dell 1525 laptop, and my little ASUS 1225B netbook), 7 Pro (2x - 1x old ACER X275 desktop and 1x newer ACER N4620G nettop) & 7 Ultimate (1x - my main Samsung laptop).

- About then, I decided it was time to experiment with upgrades to Win 10 on some machines because of the future demise of Win 7 support and thus of my need to get to know Win 10, and so I "upgraded" SWMBO's (to 10 Home) and the N4620G (to 10 Pro). I also upgraded the Samsung and then downgraded it immediately as that should have allowed me to upgrade again at any future time - and I tried to upgrade the ASUS but that just wouldn't work.

- Earlier this week, I was at a U3A Computer Club mtg, and one of the group leaders said that people really should upgrade their earlier OS m/c's (the tech savey of most of the club members varies from clueless to "moderately educated"!), and the other group leader said that it was still possible to do that - even though it had been widely publicised that free upgrades would stop around the end of 2017, and so I challenged him on that point and he then posted the link to the upgrade path.

- I then decided to try that out on the old X275 which doesn't get used for much except to run a sat receiver card, and so was "expendable" if everything went "you know where"! Anyway, I did try that route, and it did work (at the 2nd attempt after the 1st one got into an interminal loop and I had to reboot it - at which point it rolled gracefully back to 7 Pro)!

Well, I bought a silver 80-320 about 15 yrs ago, to go with the MZ/ZX-5N, on the basis of various good magazine reviews - but, TBH, I was totally less than impressed it with for 2 reasons:
- I could never get any decently sharp shots.
- Over time (and not a lot of that) the lens barrel developed a pronounced looseness and "wobble" when extended, due to wear of the plastic parts inside, and that wasn't and isn't repairable (it became quite well known for that issue) - if you get one like that, send it back if you can, or bin it if you can't!

PS: just read cyberjunkie's post, and my opinion of the FA28-80 was much the same as for the 80-320 - although it didn't "wobble"

Project Panagor. I already had the 135mm 2.8, and now the nice and compact 28mm 2.8 has arrived. Just primes and no zooms or I will go crazy.

49mm uv and skylight filters instead of cookies:

I think it is probably made by Komine based on it's similarity with this vivitar:

Robin Parmar tested it: http://www.theatreofnoise.com/2008/10/on-test-vivitar-28mm-128-close-focus.html

The Promaster 28-80 shows in Exif as an FA and is a decent cheap lens for a 16Mp Camera, but my KP hates it since the KP's sensor seems to outresolve the lens.

The St Michael Hymnal Choir and Organ version that fills two 3 ring binders. It reviewed well on the Church Music Association of America site, so I added it to my collection. I have HBA (Hymnal Buying Addiction). Not quite as expensive as LBA, but ... I sight read the first half, and the printing is very clear, but the page turns are sometimes not so good.

This weeks additions for me:
- a Tamron 70-300 zoom to replace the Sigma that my son has borrowed. I would have got another Sigma but thought I'd give the Tamron a try, plus I'm interested in its macro capabilities
- a Leica screw-mount MIR-1 37mm F2.8 lens. I'd bought this as a lens for my Bessa-L as the only other L39 wide angle I had didn't work well on it. While it was arriving from Russia I bought a 25mm F4 Voigtlander Snapshot Skopar so not sure how much use the lens will actually get.

Regarding the Panagor 28, accepted rule of thumb says that Vivitar lenses with a serial number starting 28******* are made by Komura.

There is an active Vivitar lens thread should you wish to contribute.:-)

I know of no Komura made Vivitars. Anyway 28x is Komine as Robin Parmar and many other sources say.

I thought the 28xxxxx lenses were Komine and the 22xxxxx's were Kiron - although both are appear to be good options. Most of mine are Komine and I've no complaints although I might try and get one of the Kiron 28mm F2's as it'd be interesting to compare with the Komine version of that which I already have (the Komine version scores a lot higher in our lens test database).

The Komine made 28mm F2 close focussing is especially sought after. I have the Kiron made 28mm F2. It is a lens that has interesting bokeh but soft wide open.

check list -

a wide lens
a telephoto lens
an old lens
a new lens
a prime or two
a zoom or two
manual focus
auto focus
a light lens
a heavy lens
a large lens
a small lens
Pentax brand
third party lens
Interesting list. I have all of the above. In fact, more than one in all instances bar none.
