No car boot sales last weekend because of the Easter holiday and travelling, so I ended up buying a few job lots on ebay, all of which arrived today. Some good stuff, the main highlights being

Minolta AF 28-100mm & Sigma Zoom 75-300mm for Minolta AF - both working well, though the Sigma has the horrible sticky non-slip coating problem
Four assorted lens converters for Canon Eos, plus a couple of filters. I want one of the converters for myself, the others should easily sell for enough to pay for the lot.
Pentax AF 28-80, Quantaray 28-200mm for Minolta AF (again with sticky black crud), and Vivitar 35-105mm macro zoom for Olympus. All working and OK apart from crud - with a 72mm polarizer that wasn't even mentioned in the listing
A nice clean Canon Digital Rebel (Eos 300D) with 18-55 AF zoom, two bridge cameras (one a 16 megapixel Nikon coolpix that has some cosmetic damage but works and is probably going to one of my nieces, the other a horrible Kodak 4 megapixel thing with no battery that isn't really worth trying to sell), and a Polaroid autofocus 4000 which might be worth a couple of pounds to a collector.

Total spend for this lot was around £90 including postage, I'm pretty sure I'll make a profit

I have a gap between 100 and 300. Gave my old DAL 55-300 kit lens to my son a few years back and never replaced it. I want a Tamron 70-200 but figured I'd hold out for a sale. In the meantime I just picked up an old A series 70-210 f4 for $50. Should be here in a few days. Looking forward to it.

Picked up a mint PK mount Voigtlander 180 f4 w/hood I found on eBay. I've had great luck with Japanese sellers there.

I want to shoot some video so I'm getting a M43 system and external audio recorder.
The camera isn't here yet but the audio recorder is, a Zoom H4n which is an impressive piece of tech. I used to record live music audio in the 90's and early 2000's and nothing like this existed then and would have been very expensive if it did.
Now I have a four track recorder capable of 24/96 that records to SD cards and has built in stereo mics with a quiet preamp with a huge dynamic range.
The most amazing part is it only cost about $200!
My old preamp from back in the day that I had to hack to make portable and power with RC car batteries was something like $350 (without mics or the recorder).

Portobello Road produced a Praktica PCL2 with Pentacon Electric 1.8/50 for £15, another Pentacon Electric 1.8/50 for £5, a changing bag for £1 and an unopened pack of Fuji Instax colour film for £1.

Both of the lenses have internal dust but I don't think fungus. Additionally, the lens I got on its own is a bit battered and stopdown is erratic, but they're pretty much guaranteed to make a profit. And if I can figure out how to adapt batteries to fit the camera and it actually works, it will be useful for testing any Pentacon Electric lenses I pick up in the future.

later - figured it out almost as soon as I posted - an AAA battery with two button cells taped to the end and some tape wrapped around to bulk it to the right diameter works well enough to test if the rheostat in the lens is still OK. and they both are.

nice I need one of these....currently use a compass and other items from my dad's old bear drafting kit

cleaned up a yashica lynx-5000 (35mm) that came this week.......shutter was slow but after firing it over & over it is smoothing out nicely.....will work it some more before running film through it.....it is one of the few leaf shutter/35mm that have a top speed of 1/1000 that I have seen/read about......the pc sync fires a cheap radio trigger pretty consistently....also put a lr-44 battery in and the light meter is responsive....seemed to be around a stop of sunny 16 and an old GE dw-48 light meter

another arrival this week was a SF-1 that had a lightly corroded AA grip! <a sweet surprise expecting the cr-5 oem battery grip> that cleaned up nicely and seems to work quite well.....with this came a 'boxey' like camera case that is spacious.....a smc 'm' 50/f1.7 that had some fungus but cleaned that right out and maybe the nicest looking 50/1.7 I have.......a tokina 28-70/3.5~4.5 AF......and a F 35-135/3.5~4.5 which maybe have a broken gear as it gets hung up at close focus distances which is kinda disappointing but still works with a little help......this will be fun to run film through after I get familiar with its functionality with all the different program lines

The lens wrench is the one on right, I guess. I also have one of those. Got it at the local Autozone. But what is that on the left?

IIRC When I worked in camera repair at Olympus the spanner wrenches they supplied
would have to be ground down on a grinding wheel and fine filed to fit lens rings perfectly.

Do current models as pictured fit lenses properly without modification?

It was needed to hold the the group. Adjustable pliers known by many names. Over here they're called a water pump pliers.

You slide them along the bar to create the right distance. There is also some play along the bar so you can make the fit perfectly.

Another day, another car boot sale. Got a Pentax-M 2.8-4 40-80mm, a Tamron Adaptall 2 70-210 4-5.6 with hood, caps, and an OM adapter, and a Vivitar x3 converter for Nikon AI for £18.50 - the Pentax lens is in good condition, the Vivitar converter seems OK, and the Tamron lens currently looks a bit cloudy but I think it may just be a little condensation (it's a cold wet day) so I'm warming it gently for a few hours, we'll see what happens. Even if it's a write-off the caps, mount and hood are worth having.

Many call them by the popular brand name, Channel Lock(s).

I was referring to the flat tips, the parts that actually engage the slots in lens rings.

That would not be very practical for a generic wrench. They fit well enough I guess unless the slots are damaged by some failed attempt to unscrew the ring with an inappropriate tool.

Garden acquisition

I just came home with three sq. yds of black garden mulch on my pickup, ready to mulch our flower beds.
