I'm using a Huawei P30 Pro now. It's insane what that phone is capable of, in terms of camera. The ultra wide is quite useful, the 5x optical zoom is mind boggling, but the real star is the 1/1.7" sensor with f1.6 lens and some clever processing. I'd never be able to achieve handheld night shots with my Pentax DSLRs (or any other larger camera) like I could do with the Huawei. You would have to use a tripod. I just wish there was a way to dial down the processing. And of course, in all other aspects it's also a great phone... fast, great battery life, wonderful display, ...

well, that was unexpected..... the low-ball offer I made on eBay was accepted...

now a NIB Vivitar (Cosina) 100mm f3.5 Macro (with 1:1 diopter) is on the way...

the good news~ the ricohmatic 225 shutter has decided to fire entirely.....the leaves open and the times set seem decent....so this is encouraging....however it still hangs up after sitting a while then gets going properly again...will keep working it.....still believe the LV meter is beyond hope

spotmatic ES arrived today....the mirror is sticky but getting better working it....automatic works when powered up!! a shame the metering is off for mechanical shutter settings....still a very neat camera....will liken it as my ME for M42......it came with a smc 50/f1.4 (been wanting a M42 f1.4 for a while now) the glass is nice and clean.....functions as it should....the one thing I do not like is the front bezel (or whatever you call it) is lose and I do not see a way tightening anything to sure it up......disappointing but as long as it is useable....will take for a ride on the K-50

the bad news~ yashica lynx-1000....leaf shutter has exploded, the leaves are all over lose inside the lens assembly which has been twisted too hard (assumed) and broken.....doubtful I can fix this.....very disappointing as it would round out my yasica rangefinder collection which it does but would prefer all working models....

After getting nothing yesterday, today has been pretty good. I spent a bit more than usual because the best site is shutting down for four weeks and will have fewer sellers when it reopens due to construction work on the site.

Minolta black beer-can 70-210 f4 - working well and looks clean - £10
Boxed Canon Eos 500N 35mm body with 28-80 EF Lens. - clean and working well - £20
Four Isco projector lenses (the shiny gold coloured metal ones, probably 75mm f2.8) for £20 the lot, all pretty clean
and an Isco-Optic Ultra-star Cinemascope Attatchment - anamorphic projector lens add-on - also £20, a bit battered cosmetically but optically looking good.

The projector lenses usually sell for £20+ each when I've had them in the past, no idea about the anamorphic one but they seem to be fairly pricy and I want to play with it anyway, so hopefully a profitable day.

At an antique mall yesterday and picked up a Tak (preset) 135/3.5, Auto-Tak 55/2 (first version), Auto-Tak 35/3.5 (first version), and Auto Sears 55/1.4. Paid $100 for all.

A 135mm f3.5 Takumar was the second telephoto I obtained. Back then (about 1959?) I thought it was an exceptionally sharp lens, better than the 50mm f2.2 preset.

BTW: My first telephoto was a 250mm Pieskar preset, which cost less new than the Takumar. Excellent lens for bokeh, in fact everything was bokehed.

I've only taken a few quick shots with the Tak 135 but like what I've seen so far. Looking forward to spending a little time with it.

By everything was "bokehed" - is that a positive spin on chronically out of focus

I took it as a clever joke; it actually made me laugh... I'm considering labeling a few of my less graceful acquisitions as "everything bokeh"

I have the follow up model to the Pentax ES, the last of the screw mounts, an ES ll. I bought it new in '74 (I think)...maybe '75 and it's been a good camera all these years. Very appealing look, lithe, black body...elegant I would say. Have the F 1.8 50, wished I had got the F 1.4 50, but I didn't. Still quite advanced cameras for their time...both ES and ES ll.

The Pieskar was a good lens for nice soft, cannot-see-any-blemishes portraiture, but do not go searching for the plane of focus.

I bought a GX85 with 12-35mm and 45-150mm kit for $320 open box used on Amazon. Because I was tired of hearing how Pentax was doooomed, and now I can read all about how micro four thirds is dooomed. Joking aside, I wanted this as a second camera for hiking and traveling and its been great for that. In body Image stablization, small body, small lens, good ergonomics. I thought that Fuji was the closest to Pentax in design philosophy, but in reality I am way happier with Panasonic vs Fuji. I start to wonder if the same engineering and ergonomics philosophies is why the Panasonic S1 and the Pentax K series look so similar.

I just can't stop my self. For less than €9,- (Discounting shipping) A nice all metal Soligor 135mm 2.8, made by Tokina. It came with a very 'useful' Canon FD to m42 adapter.
