Just won a Tamron 90mm SP Di version for around 130 dollars. Been scouring the auction sites for a macro at the right price that wasn't infested with fungus and hopefully I've found it.

I've heard a lot of good things about this lens! Can't wait to use it for scanning film and taking pictures of circuit boards. The aperture ring is cool too, lets me use it on my ME Super!
If it was on eBay it would have cost you more except I got stuck in meeting......

Mine was the same...very clean except for scant corrosion in the battery compartment!

Good find! The XR Rikenon 35/2.8 is widely considered to be evil twin to the Pentax-M 35/2.8. The two are identical except for the beauty ring and perhaps coatings; both are excellent.

Steve
Yeah that's what I've read on a few sites, the theory shared between them is that it's a rebadged Pentax-M.
Over the past year or so I've seen the Rikenon pop up for sale a couple times (on here, Keh, & ebay) for around the same price I paid for, but didnt have the money to get it at that time.

Neat looking place, Dave. Thanks for the pics. Plenty of K-mount goodness and M42 magnificence.

How did you find the prices? Reasonable for the quality of the goods?

I don't have a good feel for how the prices in GBP compare to similar items here in Canada. We have one used-camera/lens shop in Ottawa -- they're well stocked, but I always find their prices a bit steep compared to the general second-hand market. The only lens I've bought in the UK was at London Camera Exchange, The Strand. Pentax-M 100mm f/2.8 in excellent condition, which I haggled down to GPB 115 or ~CAD $160 at the time. A bit steep, but I love the lens! I'm still kicking myself for passing on a nicely-priced Takumar 85/1.9 at Mr. CAD in London (near Vic Station, I recall).

- Craig

I paid £49 for the M200/4, and I think the prices there are generally excellent since he only sells gear in really top quality condition that he services to a very high standard before sale if needed. There's a university and a college of art & design in Plymouth that both do photography degrees, so demand for film gear is high around here. And I know from chatting to him that he also supplies and services gear for some names in the photography world that most people on this forum would recognise. He's a staunch advocate of medium format folders like the Ensign, and yesterday he came pretty close to convincing me.

(I should probably make it clear that I do not have any commercial link to the place.)

Having previously owned a Bigma I would also recommend renewing your gymn membership if you intend lugging it far

But good for the soul, You can't take it with you, and as Jack Benny discovered, neither can you send it ahead.

Haha, I'd been watching them for ages, thought I was happy with the K10 and K50, but nope, time for an upgrade 😉

Just bought a big job lot of lenses on eBay - eleven lenses, four teleconverter, and some odds and ends. The seller is a charity that usually has good stuff even when it's sold as untested, but posts photos rather than a detailed list. I can see a Helios 44-2, a Tessar 50/2.8, a 5igma 300mm 5.6, several zooms, and an SMC Takumar 200mm f4, plus another lens that I think is a SMC Takumar zoom but is the wrong way round to read its labels, and a set of Jessop extension tubes for Canon EF. I paid about £54 for the lot, hopefully I'll make a profit. More when I receive them.

I picked up an M 200mm/4 at So Perfect Images in Plymouth today, which looks in near mint condition. The place is a treasure trove of classics from the film era, with cabinets full of all sorts of stuff to drool over. It feels like walking back into the days when camera shops were proper camera shops.

Very nice. I love camera shops like that. I found a nice one in Cardiff last year and walked out with a lovely K-mount Vivitar 28mm f/2 for just 30 quid. The f/2.8s often go for that much.

I wonder if it's still there - I often work in Cardiff (2x days weekly) so should really pop into the physical shops for a look around. Same goes for the Camera Centre in Swansea.
