I take my two year old in photo outings almost daily, to central park... she sees the camera and calls it "photo" and tries to look through the viewfinder. I'm trying my best here...

You have to be careful where and what you do when your child is small. We were out doing a modest trail hike & climb when our daughter was small enough to be in a carrier on my back. We met an older couple and he commented along the lines of: We used to take our daughter along like that. Today she is trying to climb Mt. Everest.

So your girl might become a photojournalist, recording what's really happening in a war zone.

My daughter will be 24 years-old in October. By now influencing her is not very likely.
OTOH why shouldn't she have more cameras than one person can use, just like me?

Accumulating K&F Fuji X mount adaptors for my XE2s. Intended for a big 50(ish) macro lens comparison. The PK mount arrived yesterday. Meeting its' brethren Minolta MD and M42. Now I need C/Y and Canon FD

New battery and charger for the Q

I had not used the Q in so long that I lost the charger, so ordered a new battery & charger combo, so now have two batteries. However, just as I decided to try the Q, my wife spotted it, decided it was too cute for words, and took it from me.

I picked up an DA -L 18-50 WR RE as a compact bad weather Wide angle that will ride in my run bag. Preliminary testing says I made a good buy. It’s a much better lens than the 18-55 DA-L I let go with my K-S2 on eBay and autofocus is more accurate than my 16-45. The 16-45 back focuses badly at 16-18mm and front focuses at 45mm.

Today's Portobello Road haul was an AF Nikkor 28-100 3.5-5.6G in nice working condition for £20, and a little hand-held Brother label making machine for £3.50 - I thought it would be worth getting because I use the same tapes in a computer label printer, but it turns out all of my tapes are wide, and it only uses the narrower ones. Seems to power up OK, so hopefully it'll be worth buying a tape - I can use the tape either way so it isn't a huge risk.

FA 50 f1.4 bought from a local fleabay listing. It was a bit dusty, and had some cleaning marks on the front element, but after a careful wipe with a microfiber cloth, both front and rear elements were revealed to be pristine. Not bad for $84.
Now to find a decent lens hood.....

Saturday's car boot fair bargain - a boxed Holga 120CFN, a 120 film Lomography camera with built in electronic flash and masks for 12 and 16 exposures, instructions and a strap. Working well and cost me a fiver, I think the last one I had sold for £20+

Also a Terry Pratchett children's short story collection I'd never heard of, for £1.50

Praktica MTL5 in decent shape....seems to be in good working order...have not tried a new battery to check the light meter...part of the stop down lever is broke off but works fine.....like that its a metal vertical shutter....has a nice never ready case and a pentacon 28/2.8 other than the filter ring dinged up seems to be a ok! this is a nice addition as I have wanted a MTL3 for quite sometime and this MTL5 fits the bill

Praktica LLC.....rather rough....hot shoe is busted....severe battery compartment corrosion......shutter seems ok

Grabbed from Amazon a screw to K mount adapter. Spent a chunk of yesterday in the lens review database seeing which m42 primes were the good ones (all of them it turns out).

Third party. Just a little $25 Amazon adapter for taking through antique stores and flea markets. Mrs. Rookie lives antique stores. I'm not expecting diamonds hiding on the shelves, but if it'll help me score a bit of jade, I'm happy. And if nothing else it'll give me something to look for while I'm with her.
