Recently, a Flektogon 35mm f/2.8 Zebra lens. Great close-focus attributes and reasonably sharp even at wide-open. Need a bit more air-time with it to get used to it as there's no auto-manual switch but instead a 'DoF button' to depress on the side in order to stop-down, but first impressions are it produces some lovely pictures:

I was to young to even drool then I had to drool over plastic stuff in the eighties. Ken Rockwell says this about it:

In the days of the Mamiya 1000 DTL, men mounted cameras to flash brackets which held large flashguns. Shoe-mount flashes were for wimps.

I guess Ken is also a sixties kind of guy.

It's a doozy! If I can get used to that DoF toggle to step down, or adapt the lens to stop down automatically I'll be smitten...

I have one of these Tokina 17s from new (late 1980s or early 1990s). Sharp, great colours and (as was common with film era ultrawides) images almost look like it has a polariser on the front, due the anti-glare coatings I guess.

This is one of my "never sell in case I get a full frame digital" prime lenses in a small category including Vivitar 24mm, Pentax M 28mm/f3.5, Pentax K 55mm/f1.8, Tamron 90mm macro, Pentax M 200mm/f4. I haven't decided yet whether my Pentax M 35mm/f2.8 makes the grade.

I hope you will love yours as much as I have become attached to mine.

An unexpected bonus - I bought a Zuiko 14-42 for four thirds pretty cheaply, when it arrived it was in excellent condition, and had a 4/3 to Micro 4/3 adapter attached! Not bad for £15.00 plus postage...

Later - just realised that the adapter is an actual Olympus MMF-2, which sells for £40+ on eBay. Just a little boggled!

Just bought a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF2 micro 4/3 body on eBay UK for £23 including postage. Claimed to be complete and working with battery and charger - we'll see what happens...
Lumix just arrived and works well with the 4/3 to Micro 4/3 adapter and a 14-42mm Olympus lens. No card (wasn't expecting one) so I've bunged in a spare 8gb for no, more importantly no USB cable and the cable turns out to be a weird fitting - just ordered one and should have it by the weekend and it's only £2.34 so I'm not going to complain.

So for about £45 including the card and cable I've got a Micro 4/3 outfit. VERY pleased!

And just had an email that the biggest of the two job lots I was expecting is ready for pickup, hopefully I'll say more about that later.

In other news the opera glasses that turned up in one of the small job lots I got last week turned out to clean up very well - I've decided to keep them for my collection of vintage scientific junk, since they appear to be pretty old.

That's a very nice lens. I recently sold mine only because I acquired a like-new Flek 35/2.4 just a few months after the Zebra.

What I shot with the 35/2.8 was very nice. But something had to go ... the "gear closet" is over flowing and still spilling up into the attic storage areas. Not good in the long run.

Seller's remorse? Yes. So, enjoy your Zebra. Cheers, J

Odds and ends for the Fuji X equipment ... a no-name hood and no-name Chinese pinch-type lens cap for the 7artisans brand 35/1.2 (a hood is not furnished with the lens itself, so cheapskates) ... plus a set of 10mm and 16mm no-name Chinese extension tubes with contacts for the Fuji X mount. Super light, thus they will stay in the Fuji photo sack.

Perfect, thanks for this J! It's anecdote like this that help me stay firm with my decision. I'll be chucking the Flek on later I think and taking it out for another spin.

It's a very capable MF lens and well worth a long evaluation ... at the end, you will come to the conclusion as to whether or not it's right for your uses ... bon courage, J

Found on eBay: Reverse-painted-panel tall mirror being deacquisitioned from a Bucks County, PA museum collection. The mirror was a wedding gift to my wife’s great-great-great-great grandmother Hannah Simpson Hough; including full provenance and a brass plate with name and (correct) wedding date 8/24/1791. She was also Ulysses S(impson) Grant’s great-great aunt. I was searching on Grant and this came up. What are the odds?

Make Offer accepted. Merry Christmas early.
