Some job lots - ordered Sunday and Monday, just odds and ends which I'm hoping will be profitable:

181 new lens caps in four sizes (47 x 52mm, 43 x 58mm, 49 x 67mm and 42 x 77mm) for £39 inc P&P, which I will be keeping about fifty for the lenses I sell and selling the rest on in much smaller lots.
Two job lots of assorted photo junk for £18 inc P&P, I've had similar lots from this seller before and they're always interesting and usually profitable. I can see a Nikon Pronea lens and a few strange bits I simply can't identify from the photos, which is usually a sign that they're either rare and valuable or total crap...
Some hoods and filters for £14 inc. P&P - I get through a lot of these and they're useful sizes.
and some lenses and a bellows unit for £33 - including a Zuiko 50/1.8, Pentax M 50/2 and Chinon 50/1.8, a slide copier, a T-mount 200mm, a Pentacon 135/2.8 (I think), and some sort of 70-210 or similar. Some faults, but I ought to come out ahead.

I'll say more as they come in.

And tonight I packed the last lot I'm selling until the new year, and shut down all of my Buy It Now lots so that after tomorrow I won't have to go to the post office again until the New Year.

I bought a Spotmatic II lot to get this lens. S-M-C Takumar 85-210 f4.5 with hood, caps, case and close-up diopter. Really superb condition. The lens is light, but it looks like a bazooka compared to later Pentax telephoto zooms such as the SMC-M version shown as a comparison.
Nice find!

I saw one of those Taks in a second hand store a few months ago. I was quite keen to buy but there were some creepy looking thingies growing inside...

I have the K-mount version. It can get some nice results and the diopter is a must for it. It is also very useful on a lot of other lenses with a longish CFD.

I had a Super A (as the Super Program was known is some parts of the world). I loved it a whole lot. I sold it to go autofocus (on film) and still got good money for it!

That A 50/1.7 is a great lens. Some say that it is sharper the A 50/1.4. There is a little plastic thingy underneath the aperture ring that breaks after a few decades but it is an easy fix.

You could spray it black, as suggested. But then the logos would be black on black. It would be stealthy but I don't think it would be a good look.
I wouldn't want to risk making a mess of it by spraying paint on it. Other than the kit lens that came with it my lenses are all black and they don't look too bad. The silver kit lens does look awful on my EOS 30 though. Yuck.

A second hand Lenovo ThinkPad T450. Fine machine, but the screen is a joke. My work laptop is a MacBook Pro 13" Retina of similar vintage (pretty much the same CPU for example), and the display is from another planet. The difference is truly staggering. I suppose there's a reason why Macs cost more...

Consider the value in terms of wine-bottle-equivalents or perhaps months-of-Netflix-equivalents.

I have used a monocular converter, but not Pentax brand. They deliver high magnification with even a modest telephoto such as 135mm or 200mm. The FOV is very narrow and the image relatively dim = not suitable for astronomic application.. You must double-focus, adjust the unit for your eyesight, the lens focusing ring for near-far. I didn't get much use out of the one I had. Monoculars are not as satisfactory as binoculars that have the same objective lens diameter and magnification, and a telephoto lens with this device attached is a make-shift monocular. As an easy-carry spotting scope for birds, especially something like shorebirds or ducks that are visible out in the open, this will work OK.

I just got a 10 meter HDMI cable for $2 (plus delivery fee) on an internet auction site. Not very exciting, I know, but it's been a slow month.

Big pile of parts and repair Nikon gear. A friend bought out his employers older and broken Nikon camera gear. He sold the newest stuff to B&H photo with the intention of repairing and/or selling the rest. He is traveling a lot so he asked me if I wanted to mess around with the pile of stuff.

Amongst the dozen or so battery packs and chargers (JUNK!) there are four malfunctioning D1/D1x bodies, an N90s with major film transport issues, an FM2 with MD-12 which just needed an easy fix (sold), AF Nikkor 20-35 f2.8 with damaged electrical contacts and no AF, clean glass and aperture works, two 80-200 f2.8 AF-s zooms, both have damaged electrical contacts and AF failure, one clean inside, one dusty both work on manual. A nice, clean Nikkor AiS 105 f1.8 with focus stuck tight and a whole pile of ???. Now, what do I do with this stuff?

They’re actually a lot of fun for converting a tele lens into a spotting scope. I’ve used one on a K400/5.6 and K500/4.5 for moonspotting and critters observation (from a tripod, of course). Best done with a gimbal but a ball head works OK.
