My first lens. Bought with a Ricoh XR2s, way back in the dark ages. Still have it, even use it now and then.

If you peruse this thread you will find many pictures of kit posed alongside a stack of chocolate coated biscuits (cookies for Americans).

a number of years ago now a member, not me, posted in this thread a photo of two lenses separated by some " objects "

the next poster indicated he was not interested in the lenses but instead he wanted the " objects "

the objects were Girl Scout thin mint cookies or a generic type of that cookie

thus the Standard Measurement Unit was created and is used by some of us to indicate scale:

AMU means an " alternative ( but similar shaped object ) measuring unit " :

Already answered by Racer X 69 and others, but FYI: it goes back to someone on this thread who wanted to indicate the size of a lens he'd purchased, so he put of stack of Girl Scout thin mint cookies next to it. Others took it up, and it became the "SMU" = standard measuring unit for showing the size of newly obtained lenses in particular. For some long telephotos it is necessary to put a dab of aerosol decorative cookie/cake decorating frosting between the thin mints to keep the stack upright. If you cannot get - have never tasted a Girl Scout thin mint, my deepest sympathy. They are a really nice cookie, although a new flavor introduced this year, the "smores" cream-filled, is also very good and has the potential, IMHO, to become an annual in-demand classic.

By ‘info’ do you mean a recipe? In which case I definitely think it should be in a sticky...

a sticky would be nice

perhaps " SMU " and the meaning could be added to these threads under " miscellaneous "

I guess for an 800mm lens it would be beneficial for stacking them high enough if the SMUs themselves were sticky. Or is this the reason you mainly seem to prefer wide angle lenses?

As Walter mentioned, a dab of cake frosting between each cookie should hold them together, at least long enough to make the SMU stack and shoot a photograph.

SILKYPIX Developer Studio Pro 10. Got the upgrade from DS Pro 9. Cost about $80 US. I can install it on up to three computers.

The real problem with SMU's is that they evaporate. At least that is what I tell my wife. Several packages of SMU's are on order.

A new 128GB iPad to replace my wife's iPad Air which needs a new lighting port and battery. I have the same model air too and it needs a new battery. I may get her old one repaired and use it. Mine has always been super slow on Wi-Fi compared to hers. Not sure why.
