7 years after I bought my first DSLR (a K20D at the time) I finally got my first star lens...

Testing with the K-50, it's sharp wide open both at 16mm and 50mm (in the focus area of course, I"m not going to shoot flat landscapes at 16mm...) and very contrasty. I thought my DA 16-45 was good but this is better And it's not quite as big as I thought it was, but on pictures it looks quite big - especially here on the K-S1...

Ah yes I have been. Mostly testing and comparing to other lenses like my DA 35mm Limited (it's about on the same level in terms of color and rendering at 35mm!), as I haven't been able to go on a walk to any interesting place yet...

But next Saturday is my son's birthday party so it'll be put to good use That and the Sigma 30 1.4 Art on the other camera and I think I'll have some good pictures.

Another addition to my Tamron Adaptall (-2, SP) Collection The 28A 28-135mm 1:4-4.5. It came with a PKA mount which I didn't have yet (Just PK and M42).

I've been dithering and price watching and hemming and hawing for a long time about a WR normal lens. I like my 15/21/40 primes, but there are days where the threat of rain makes them a poor choice. I thought about the 18-135, but never really warmed to the idea. I rented the 16-85 a few times and liked it, but it's pretty big and the aperture is not very wide. I rented the 20-40mm LTD on a trip to Germany and Austria last year, and it was nice. After reviewing the pictures taken with it I'm pretty impressed with the performance, and I like that it's relatively small and nicely built. The recently announced 16-50 PLM sounds good, but it'll probably be $1000 and who knows when it'll be released.

So a couple days ago I was checking around online and Lens Authority had a used copy (of the 20-40 LTD) for $340, which is considerably cheaper than you'll usually see it, so I jumped. Should be here tomorrow. It's my birthday present to myself. Haven't told the wife yet.

So you won't be buying one of the new ones that are going to be made and sold for £1000 each?

Price does not impress me.
I was before hotter fire than the 1000 GBP for this Meyer lens.
That is about an average price for a decent used Carl Zeiss lens suitable for a Hasselblad body.

Soligor C/D MC Macro 90mm f2.5 arrived from Berlin yesterday:

sold in 'excellent' condition - I'd venture that this lens has never been used, it's so clean and unmarked....
