Won a Sigma 17-50/2.8 EX DC HSM on eBay for $168 total to my door. Looking to test it against my cranky HD 18-85 WR, when it arrives.
I have both and they are both excellent in their way. Not massively different in size or weight. The Sigma gives extra speed while the Pentax gives an extended range, WR, and better exposure and more typical Pentax colours, though of course there are the well-documented focus problems. On a more subjective note, the Sigma gives a subtler and more attractive (in my view) rendering of light and colour, something a bit closer to the look of film than what's typical of digital photography. It's a great shame these are no longer made for Pentax.

It'd be a very tough choice but if I had to choose one to sell it'd be the Pentax that went out the door.

Resistance is futile! My Canon and Nikon sales $ were burning a hole in my paypal account, and ebay is way too tempting. I went from 0 Pentax a month ago to this pile of lenses (and bodies) and some more in the mail. Some DA/FA, some SMC-A, some SMC-M, non-Pentax, and 5 problem lenses to be taken apart and cleaned (to learn and practice) before I take apart the Tokina ATX-Pro 80-200 f2.8ED to clean some fungus. Yesterday's score was great: 2 mint bodies and 4 Pentax SMC-A lenses, in a custom case for $80 : Black MX, Super Program, 50 f1.4, 28 f2.8, 35-70 F4, 70-210 f4.
Here's the lens list. 4-6 are projects and need repair and/or cleaning. One is a conversion project from Olympus to Pentax mount - an ebay mistake not worth sending back.

I've spent a total of $1000 for all this (I owned 3 of the lenses already). Included in the cost are also 4 18-55 DAL kit lenses (sold 2 so far), 2 Pentax SMC-M 50mm f1.7 (sold both), 1 K-30, 2 K-x, 1 black MX, 1 ME, 1 Super Program (plus my old MX and ME Super). 1 mistake was the K-S2 which did not work - $150, which is also included in the $1000 cost.

My favorite Canon lens was the 10-22 zoom, followed by the 24-70L, so I'll probably chase down a similar Sigma once I sell off some of the ones below (after testing them and deciding which ones I want to keep).

I might give up on the long zooms and convert a telescope for backyard birding. I have a Meade 350mm and a Takahashi 630mm sitting around since my eyesight became bad and I stopped trying to split stars.

Then a Ks-2 I’d purchased off a forum want ad, arrived with a hidden, previously “repaired” defect- a broken flash shoe- (see photo.) Apparently the cold weather during transportation across the continent caused the plastic to shrink, popping the super glue and a thin plastic strip added to hide the defect. The Ks-2 is on its way back to the seller.
I have a parts K-S2, where the main board got corrosion and is bad (see my first post in PF) - wont save anything. Does this one work otherwise?

Recently picky up a Godox V1 flash for my Fuji system. Also snagged a used Sigma FP, the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DN DG Art lens, and the new Sigma 65mm f2. Really been loving my FP.

Was not aware of the FP. That looks very cool. Congrats!

I thought I was done w/ buying lenses but let myself get tempted again, and just picked up a Tamron SP 23A 60-300mm F3.8-5.4 lens with PK Adaptall-2 and L-18 case and hood (wanted one back in the day), along w/ a Tokina EL 2X converter with case, and a hazy Sakar MC 35-200 f3.8-5.2 macro made in Japan lens, all for the princely sum of $40. On closer inspection at home, the Tamron needs to be cleaned as well.

Our whole house vacuum has been acting up and we can't get anyone to come service it so I broke down and bought a factory refurbished Dyson V10 Animal.
I didn't want to spend full price but wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. It seems pretty nice so far and picks up a lot more than the old one. Between the dog and cat there is a lot of animal hair to take care of.

@Pepperberry farm - I have some lenses with stuck filters. Can you provide a link or a photo of what you bought? Thanks.

We got a Dyson and are happy. Also very light weight to move around. Any whole house system will not provide as much suction because of the limits of the physics of long suction tubes.

I was only thinking a few weeks ago that our house ducted vacumm might need a set of new motor brushes (last lot gave us about 6 years.... 5 years ago or so).... so I orded a set. Didn't post about it here when they arrived .... because having spare vacumm brushes.... whilst giving me some comfort.... might be seen as a bit weird. My wife is a cleaning junky.... so first thing I do when we swap houses is install a ducted vacumm.... before a wood fired pizza oven even.....

Swapping motor brushes is pretty easy.

I should (when I get home) have a set of Peak Design clips and anchors to amend an existing camera strap to feature the anchors (Code is AL-4 for anyone interested).
Hopefully they'll have been delivered properly this time, as I had a lens returned to me with the same courier and they deemed leaving it on my doorstep for all to see as 'delivered'. Fortunately it was still there when I got home an hour and a half later!

Also, perhaps, a new lens on its way (whoops). It'll be competing against two lenses of similar focal lengths and sizes. If it wins out, the other two will sell at profit. If it loses, it'll sell at profit. Win, win.

Ours is 15 years old and hasn't had any service besides emptying and cleaning it so I'm sure it is past due.
I just haven't had the time and motivation to dig in myself and the canister is in an awkward spot to work on it. But I may need to even if we continue using the other vacs because we especially like the little kick plate in the kitchen for quick sweep ups.
