My latest acquisitions? Today another 720nm IR filter, just in a different size and price point (Zomei 55mm for only $26 USD) and coming tomorrow, a small bottle of Weldbond intended for a small repair job.

LBA reared its head again. I just bought a CZJ Biotar 58mm ƒ2. Will post it with SMUs when it gets here.

Like you Dave?

I was debating whether to get the Biotar or the Tessar. Time will tell if I made the right choice.

no - not me; I have a Biotar 58/2 and love it....

I also have a severely-damaged Tessar 50/2.8, which is perfect for monochrome shooting....

I was thinking like the other Steve up in the PNW....

Using worms the fish will swallow the bait and hook.
You will practically gut the fish removing the hook.
That's not a problem if it's a keeper, but not so good for catch and release.

The great thing about using artificial lures is that you will usually only lip hook the fish.
That and there's such a variety of attractive lures - just like cameras and lenses...

But always watch out for those who do. Unfortunately it's an American tradition.

Welcoming the K 24mm f/3.5 to the rest of my K collection. I try to shoot with at least one every day.
Great group shot of some of the best "K" (SMC Pentax) lenses. I have all of them but the 1.4/50mm (I have the same lens in M and FA incarnations).
The 2.5/135mm, 1.2/50mm, 3.5/28mm, 3.5/35mm and 3.5/24mm are all very, very good. IMHO the 24mm is better than the successive f/2.8 version, also sold as Pentax-A with electric contacts. Great choice!

Konica C35v camera

Zone focus model of Konica C35 compact rangefinder camera.
These are excellent for travel snapshots. Cost $50 shipped.

If all is working I will order a $15 light seal kit from Jon Goodman.
If not quote from Greg Weber confirms repair is uneconomical.

Something to temp all Pentaxians who are afflicted by LBA (and which of us isn't?). TWO Pentax 200mm f4 EDIF AF macro lenses on offer on EBAY. One at a bit over $6000, the other at over $8000. Go for one only if you are unmarried.

I've found cheap smartphones to be a false economy as well as a very frustrating experience, but I suppose it depends on what you use it for.

I've just ordered a second Nikon F801S and am crossing my fingers it'll work. The seller didn't want to bother putting four AAs in it to test it so either he really is that lazy or he's trying to avoid saying it doesn't work. All I got from him was that it used to work... Will see when it arrives, hopefully in a couple of days.

I got a new flip phone - or "Old Men Phone" as one Chinese eBay seller describes them.

I use it for talk and text only. I had my provider turn off Web access.
It has a 3.0 MP camera, so there's no temptation to get artsy...
