10 days later, now able to CAREFULLY walk around the house and up/down the stairs - without a crutch or even a walking stick, although I will almost certainly have to use one or the other when outdoors
BTW: the surgeon who did the operation was recommended to me by several friends as being one of the very best - before the op, he told me that I would be cursing him for at least 2 weeks afterwards, but I now most certainly will not as there is very little pain (still on painkillers though)
OK, I had to pay for the op and 3 night hospital stay, but the realistic prospect of having to wait
at least 2 yrs for a NHS operation as a result of the pandemic was the "final straw that broke the camel's back" in that respect.
