Being a family of 5 with 3 hungry boys, our fridge is always filled to the brim... so I found a pretty recent 17.7 cu ft. stainless Whirlpool fridge on OfferUp for 100 bucks... with just some very minor cosmetic damage to the front... and me and my 12yo were able to haul it into the van and take it home, it already has a nice spot in the garage.

Just finished upgrading the desktop pc. Photoshop is happier with a 4gb GPU. Running out of space on the main drive, so up from a 512 gb to 2tb (cloning efforts failed so had to do a fresh load). wifi was dicey so replaced the wifi card. Speeds slightly up from about 3mbit down to about 200. Should be good for awhile.

Bonica SQ-A complete with 120 back, 80mm f2.8 P/S lens and a very interesting prism. I have not seen one like this before, and it is the reason I chose this camera from other SQs as it is perfect for tripod use. Now I need a 150mm!

I have the f/1.8 version. Is there something special I don't know about?

Love that first photo. The Bronica. I recall a work colleague used one in the late '60's for wedding photography. Fine camera.

lol

no secrets here - unusual, maybe - Super Takumar and SMC Takumars were made using yellow ink on the aperture ring and the "1:2/55" on the front lens ring....

no reason given by Asahi/Pentax, either....

I also have a later 55/1.8 and it is the bee's knees....

have you ever noticed that the font used by Asahi/Pentax changed over time also?

Yes, all sorts of small details like that change. Are you familiar with the Takumarology Field Guide? Here is a link to your lens model's page.

You will love that lens. I did an extensive test between those two lenses and the older 100mm macro made for Pentax by a third party. You can't go wrong with either of those lenses.

The nice thing about the Tak is that if you are outside, the front element does not extend from the body or move inside the lens hood as it does with the DFA macro lens, not leaving it exposed to glare from incidental light or damage from twigs. That is a failing with the DFA. Look here:
Macro lens bake-off! - Page 2 - PentaxForums.com

Also, if you need to read reproduction ratios or distance, do manual focussing, or need manual aperture control, this is your lens.

Buy the dedicated Takumar lens hood (they run about $10) and it can be stored reversed by slipping it over the lens.

A bit of a novelty lens for next month's SIC (I need something fun) - the Pentax -110 70mm f2.8 which I will pair with my tiny Olympus E-PM1. Why not, right...
